Perrysburg, Wood County, Ohio. Jan 23, 1862, p. 2. DIED. In Hartford township, Licking county, Ohio, Dec. 16, 1861, of old age, Benjamin Samson, aged 90 years, 9 months, and 24 days. Mr. S. leaves a wife, 5 children, 25 grandchildren and 23 great grand children. He was born in Pennsylvania Feb. 22d 1771. He removed with his sister to New Jersey when he was four year old; and from thence to his farm in Licking county; (his parents having died the year previous and were both buried in one grave.) He had passed through many hardships here on earth and was followed to the grave by many warm friends. His funeral sermon was preached from Isaiah 3, 10, and 11. One hour before he died, he called on the Lord to help him. He then called his granddaughter to raise him up -- she did so. He then told her to lay him down and his spirit passed away without a struggle. He was the father of 10 children, 6 of whom are still living [n.b. - this directly conflicts the early part of the article]. He was an honest upright man; and bore his afflictions without a murmur. He was father-in-law of S. Clark, former editor of the Perrysburg Journal.
