The deceased was a native of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, from when he went to reside at Wooster, in this State, and about the year 1833 he became a resident of Perrysburg, which continued to be his home until his death. Mr. Shepler was well known through Wood County, and to the traveling public as proprietor of the "Shepler House". His genial and obliging manners obtained for him the confidence and respect of all his associates, and his guests were made to feel that with him they were at home. As a neighbor he was ever ready to perform acts of kindness. As a citizen, when in health, he earnestly performed the duties and priveleges [sic] appertaining thereto. His family relations were ever tender and affectionate, possessing in the highest sense the love and confidence of his children. His widow and children have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in this period of bereavement.
