Perrysburg, Wood County, Ohio. May 8, 1868, p. 3. DIED. On April 27, 1868, Fidelia, wife of John Shroder, aged 26 years and 7 months. In her early youth, she commenced to attend the Sabbath School of the M.E. Church, in Perrysburg, of which she continued a faithful member until she attained to womanhood, and then became as faithful a teacher as she had been a scholar. The love of the lessons of wisdom which she had here learned and taught, some two years since, induced her to make a public profession of her love for, and faith in, the Gospel of Christ, and to seek, through fellowship with the church militant, preparation for, and everlasting communion with, the church triumphant. It may truthfully be said of her, in her relations in life as Associate, Daughter, and Wife, she gave a beautiful exemplification of her Christian faith, and in her death both realized herself and witnessed to others that she had not followed a cunningly-devised fable, but walked in the sure ways of the truth of God, constraining all who had known her in life, and saw her in death, to say, in a realizing sense, "Mark the perfect woman, and behold the upright; for the end of that woman is peace." And, though she is glorified and happy with the angels, her sorrowing husband and relatives are left to chant in the minor key of hallowed grief, in the beautiful language of Mrs. Hemans: "For there is hushed on earth A voice of gladness; there is veiled a face, Whose parting leaves a dark and silent place By the once joyous hearth. A smile hath passed which filled its home with light:- A soul, whose beauty made that smile so bright." H.
