M. C. Valentine, known to his many friends in this city as "Mack," died at his home here on Hixon street Sunday morning at 4:45. About five weeks ago Mr. Valentine had his leg broken while unloading pipe on Thurstin avenue. One week ago last Tuesday while still confined to his bed with his injured leg, he contracted pneumonia which was the direct cause of his death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the late home. Rev. Reely, of Toledo, will officiate. Interment will be made in Portage cemetery. The deceased was born at Stoutsville, Piqua county, May 14, 1863, where he was reared to a young man of eighteen when he came to Wood county, locating on a farm six miles east of this city. In 1882 he was married to Tillie Simmons, a Wood county girl. One son, Clarence, was born to this union. Mrs. Valentine died in 1887. July 3, 1888, Mr. Valentine remarried to Mayvilla Ward, of east of Bowling Green. Nine children, all of whom survive, has blessed this marriage. Mr. Valentine came to Bowling Green in 1899 and had lived here since with the exception of two years in Toledo. Mr. Valentine united with the United Brethren church when a young man. Thru his cheerful disposition and honest dealings with his fellow-men he had acquired a large circle of warm friends who will regret learning of his death and extend their heartfelt sympathy to the grief stricken family. He leaves to sorrow for his passing, a wife and these children: Clarence, Mrs. H H. Stahl, Rueben and Mrs. Will Sparks, all of Toledo, and McClelland, Rachel, Florence, Erma, Charley and Versa, at home, besides one brother, James A., of Troy, and one sister, Mrs. J J.
