A long slash in the throat and a razor lying beside him told the story of how he had taken his own life. It is thought by his relatives that the deed was probably committed Thursday night; and owing to the condition of the body, the funeral was held Sunday night and interment was made in the cemetery here, Rev. A. R. Custer officiating. Mr. Walker had been keeping house alone for some days, as his mother, widow of the late Irvin Walker, was at the home of her son Ralph on Wayne Street where the latter's wife has been sick for three weeks with typhoid fever, and his brother Ray was away threshing. When the mother went home Saturday night, she was filled with a sense of loneliness upon entering the house. Frank was nowhere to be seen. Filled with a doubt she could not understand, she still thought he might have gone a-fishing. His brother Ray was about the yard, Saturday evening close to the body, but never got the faintest clue of the tragedy until the following morning. Temporary insanity is given as the cause of the deed. The deceased was born February 16th, 1864, being 44 years of age at the time of his death. He was born on North Main street in this city but had resided for many years at the eastern edge of town. By occupation he was an oil well driller and was counted one of the best in the Wood county field and in Canada where he worked for some months. Warm-hearted and generous, no one ever asked help of him in vain. He was ready to part with his last penny to help a friend and to his mother about the house he was as good as a daughter. His father died a year ago last February. With his mother there are left four other children: Ray (Dick) and Ralph Walker, of this city, James of Robinson, Ill., and Mrs. Minnie Van Valkenburg, of Grand Rapids.
