Mrs. Younker has been failing for a long time and her death was not unexpected. She passed away quietly and peacefully into the Great Beyond like a child going to sleep. The funeral took place Monday p.m. at the home of James Ford on South Church Street, the services being conducted by Rev. Stewart Wright of the M.E. church. Mrs. Barbery Younker was one of the oldest residents of Wood County, being over 94 years of age. She was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, March 17, 1806,. She was united in marriage to Mathais Stump in 1823 and removed to Wood County in 1840. They purchased 40 acres of land in Montgomery township and built a cabin, thereon. Mr. Stump held many township offices, such as school director, assessor, clerk and the like. In 1853 Mr. Stump was killed by a falling tree. By this union were born eight children, five boys and three girls. Four of these boys grew up and served in the war of the Rebellion. In 1855 Mrs. Stump was united in marriage to Mr. Charles Younker, with whom she lived happily till his death in 1870. Since then, Mrs. Younker has made her home in Bowling Green with her step-son, Madison Younker, and her step-granddaughters, Mrs. Sears and Mrs. Ford.
