Delaware Co., NY Hill Elisha 1841 Jul 1858 17 s/o William & Sarah Located 0.9 miles north of US Rt. 30 east, on the west side of State Route 231, in 1858 there was a log cabin on a farm owned by William & Sarah Hill. They had died of the black plague (cholera). Their daughter left a note for the neighbor, who was bringing them food, asking them to bring two boxes to bury her parents. She would put them in the boxes and then had planned to put them in an old well, cover it with oil and burn them. The next day the neighbors came with the boxes and found another note saying that she would be dead, also of the plague. They were to saturate her and the cabin with oil and burn it to the ground. The owner, in 1980, states that his grandparents built their home here in 1860, knowing that there had been a log cabin on the site. Update received Sept 27, 2001 from Tom and Marnie Hill Hi Kris My name is Tom Hill and I wanted to help you on the Hill Burial site. William and Sarah were my G,G,G,G Grandparents and Mrs. Watts was the one we helped on the first cemetery book. She got the information from notes we had from family members on the Hill burial site. At the time we had the notes the person who wrote them had Elisha a son. Since then we have researched more and found that Elisha was in fact Eliza Hill daughter of William and Sarah. Eliza was born in Ohio abt 1842 per the Census record we found. We believe her name was Elizabeth and the Eliza was a nickname but we go with Eliza because that is what the census record shows. William was also a constable for Eden township. The rest of the facts about them are indeed true because we have had a heck of a time tracking down all their kids because they were all adopted out to various families in the area after the death of their Father, Mother and Sister. I just wanted to get this correct for you and hope that the information can be changed. We have the Hill family back to 1790 and the Francisco family back to the 1600's.
