HOTELLING EXPIRES IN HOSPITAL Head Injuries Prove Fatal To Local Man; Funeral Thursday Grover L. Hotelling, 59-year-old Wyandot county farmer, passed away in Bucyrus City hospital at 10:45 Monday night. Death was caused by a fractured skull received in an accident near his home Friday evening. Grover Luther Hotelling was born February 28, 1887 in Crawford township, Wyandot county, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Long) Hotelling. He was united in marriage with Bessie Lawrence, November 29, 1913 in Upper Sandusky. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Howard Leighty, Glenn, Wayne, and Paul Hotelling, all of this city, and Charles, Dwight, Roger and Darrel Hotelling at home. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Grace Shine, McCutchenville; Mrs. Augusta Wolgamuth, Carey; Mrs. Anna Snyder, Osborn, O.; Mrs. Millie Yentzer, Oceala; Mrs. Myrtle Inman, Forest; Andrew and George of Carey, and Elza of Mononcue. Three brothers and three sisters are deceased. He was a member of Rock Run church and has lived in the community his entire life. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from the Bringman & Co. funeral home. Rev. Earl Hedges of Findlay, will officiate with burial in Old Mission cemetery. HOTELLING DIES SATURDAY Funeral Services For Native Of County To Be Tuesday Andrew C. Hotelling, 91, of Carey, died in Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, Saturday evening. He had resided at the Indian Trail Nursing Home and was taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon. Born March 5, 1878 in Wyandot County, he was a son of Charles and Elizabeth (Long) Hotelling. He married Myrtle Baughman on Dec. 31, 1901 and she preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Melvin, Carey; daughters, Mrs. Neil Patterson, Carey; and Mrs. H. F. Maddy, Crestline; a brother Elza (Joe) Hotelling, Upper Sandusky; 21 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Two sons, a daughter, five brothers and six sisters are deceased. Funeral services are to be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Bristoll Funeral Home in Carey. The Rev. David Cole will officiate. Burial is to be made in Zion Bloom Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home anytime. Daily Chief, Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, Ohio Saturday, October 6, 1956 CLAIMED FRIDAY Dies In Crile Hospital; Funeral Services Tuesday At 1:30 P.M. Grover Cleveland Montee, 69, passed away in Crile Veterans hospital, Cleveland, Friday afternoon. He had been ill one week. Death was due to complications. Born in Little Sandusky, August 25, 1887, he was the son of David and Mary (Sheets) Montee. He was united in marriage to Caroline Walter. She survives at Cuyahoga Falls, where they had lived for ten years. Surviving with the wife are the following sisters and brothers: Robert Montee, of Harpster; Fowler Montee, of Sandusky; Lorin Montee, of Richmond, California; Mrs. Mary Beattie, of Bucyrus; Mrs. Frances Fowler, Mrs. Myrta Swinehart, and Mrs. Margaret Lumberson, all of Little Sandusky; Mrs. Emma Clark, of Toledo; Mrs. Iva Oborn, of Ashland, and Mrs. Villa Shoop, of Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Montee was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky and was a veteran of World War I. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Lucas funeral home. Rev. F. LeRoy Sarver, pastor of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Little Sandusky cemetery. Funeral services will be conducted at the Weller funeral home in Cuyahoga Falls, Monday at 1:30 p.m. Friends may call at the Lucas funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday until the hour of services. Daily Chief, Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, Ohio Saturday, October 6, 1956 SIMON WOHLGAMUTH CLAIMED AT CAREY Retired Carpenter Dies Early Today: Funeral Tuesday Simon Wohlgamuth, 84, passed away at his home at 115 West South street, Carey, this morning at 12:05. Mr., Wohlgamuth suffered a stroke a week ago, but pneumonia which developed resulted in his death. Born in Ridge township, Wyandot county, November 15, 1871, he was the son of Daniel and Catherine (Fesse) Wohlgamuth. March 1, 1906, he was married to Gustie Hotelling, who survives with a son, Frank Wohlgamuth, of Springville, north of Carey. Two sons, a daughter, four brothers and a sister are deceased. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 from the Bristoll funeral home in Carey, Rev. T. Benton Peery, of Carey, will officiate. Interment will made in Spring Grove cemetery near Carey. The body will be taken to the residence where friends may call after noon Sunday until shortly before the funeral hour. Daily Chief, Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, Ohio Saturday, June 8, 1918 FOREST HOTELLING Died Saturday Morning When Kicked Over Heart By Colt Forest Hotelling, of five and one-half miles north of Carey, was killed early Saturday morning when kicked over the heart by a colt he was placing in his barn. Mr. Hotelling would have been twentynine years old July 13. He was born in Crawford township. He is survived by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Long Hotelling, of southwest of Carey; his wife, formerly Florence Mick, to whom he was married May 4, five years ago; two daughters, Martha, four years old, and Treva, one year old: and these brothers and sisters, Andrew, near Carey; Grace, wife of John Shine, Crawford township; Myrtle, wife of Ray Inman, Stringtown; Nellie, wife of Charles Yentzer; northeast of Upper Sandusky; Mrs. Anna Snyder, Carey; Gusta, wife of Cy. Wohlgamuth, Carey; Grover, southeast of Upper Sandusky; Elza, southwest, southwest of Upper Sandusky; George, southwest of Carey, and James, at home. After his marriage, deceased lived for a time in Vanlue, later near Lovell and then moved to the farm on which he was killed. Daily Chief, Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, Ohio Monday, December 19, 1938 JAMES D. HOTELLING Carey Resident Dies At Findlay Hospital Saturday James D. Hotelling, 41, of 130 East Brown avenue, Carey, passed away at Findlay Home and Hospital Saturday after an illness of the past four weeks. Mr. Hotelling had submitted to an operation December 7, death resulting from peritonitis which developed. Born October 17, 1896, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Long Hotelling. April 7, 1923, he was united in marriage to Zettie Mick, who survives with a daughter, Leoda, at home, another child having preceded the father in death. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Simon Wohlgamuth, Mrs. Emma Snyder and Mrs. Charles Yentzer, all of Kenton; Mrs. Myrtle Inman, Forest; Elza Hotelling, Mrs. Grace Shine and Grover Hotelling, all of Upper Sandusky and vicinity, and George and Andrew Hotelling, both of Carey. Two sisters and two brothers are deceased. Mr. Hotelling was a lifelong resident of Carey and for a number of years had been employed at the National Lime and Stone company in Carey. He was a member of the Second Pilgrim Holiness church, in Marion, and leaves a large circle of friends and acquaintances, who extend sympathies to the bereaved wife and daughter. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Evangelical church in Carey with Rev. L. H. Naumann, of Findlay, in charge, assisted by Rev. R. B. Leedy, of Carey. Interment will be made in Spring Grove cemetery, near Carey. The body will be left at the Bristoll funeral home in Carey until the hour of services. Daily Chief, Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, Ohio Monday, December 19, 1938 MRS. MERLE MILLER Dies At Bucyrus; Niece Of Eden Township Resident E. G. Brown, of Eden township, had received word of the death of his niece, Mrs. Merle Miller, nee Mary Bard, of Bucyrus, which occurred in Bucyrus City hospital Monday morning at 2:30 o'clock. She submitted to a second operation Saturday morning, a previous operation having been performed about six weeks ago. She was past 50 years of age. Mrs. Miller was the daughter of George and Frances (Brown) Bard, both now deceased. She leaves her husband, and a brother, William Bard, of Tiffin. She was born near Little York in Eden township, and moved to Bucyrus, about ten years ago. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at Bucyrus. Burial will be made in the old cemetery at Sycamore. Daily Chief, Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, Ohio Saturday, April 19, 1930 CHARLES HOTELLING Aged Veteran Passes Away at Daughter's Home in Carey Charles Hotelling passed into the sleep of death at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Simon Wohlgamuth, on West street, Carey, Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock after an illness of five weeks. He had been bedfast for the past three days, death being due to the infirmities of age. Charles Hotelling was born January 4, 1843, the son of George and Lucy Jane Hotelling in this county, being 87 years, 3 months and 15 days at the time of his demise. Mr. Hotelling was a veteran of the civil war having served with Company H, of Ohio. He was united in marriage to Gertrude Elizabeth Long, who survives with the following children: Mrs. Anna Snyder, of Carey; Mrs. Simon Wohlgamuth, with whom the father made his home; Mrs. Ray Inman, of west of Forest; Miss Audrey Hotelling, of McCutchenville; George Hotelling, of Vanlue; Grover and E. T. Hotelling, of near this city; Mrs. John Shine, of McCutchenville, and Mrs. Charles Yentzer, of this city. Five children, Florence, Elwood, Allen, Maggie, and Dilley, are deceased. One brother, Abraham Hotelling, of Warren, Pennsylvania, and a sister, Mrs. George Shuman, of Carey also survive. Mr. Hotelling was a man admired by all and leaves a host of friends to mourn his death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Wohlgamuth home, in Carey, with Rev. O. D. Myers, of the Evangelical church, in charge. Interment will be made in the Spring Grove cemetery. The body was taken to the C. F. Sutter funeral home and will be removed to the Wohlgamuth home Sunday morning. Undertaker Charles W. Bringman went to Toledo Friday, to bring the remains here. Wyandot Chief, Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, Ohio Thursday, January 13, 1898 JOHN NEIDIG Richland Township Man Visits at Deshler and Dies There Sad news was received at Wharton on Tuesday, bearing information of the death of John Neidig, who for many years was one of Richland township's influential farmers. Mr. Neidig died at Deshler, Ohio, at 4 o'clock Tuesday morning. About seven weeks ago Mr. Neidig went to Deshler to visit his daughter, Mrs. Lovina Stricker, who resides there, and while at that place met his death at the hour above stated, although THE CHIEF was unable to learn of the immediate cause of his demise. The first telegram received from Deshler said the remains would be shipped to Wharton, but Tuesday night another telegram came, saying the burial would occur at Deshler at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Neidig was married to Elvina Price, sister of Levi Price, near Kirby, in 1843. They had seven children, two daughters, Ella and Cynthia, being dead. The children living are Alfred, residing at Cumberland, Wis.; Savilla, wife of Frank Roberts, of Jackson, Mich.; Mrs. Lovina Stricker, at Deshler; Minnie, wife of W. S. Cole, of Richland township; and Levi, residing near Wharton, and with whom his aged parents made their home. The deceased had been a resident of Wyandot county for over half a century, and was held in the highest esteem by his neighbors and friends. Mrs. Neidig, Mrs. Cole, and Levi Neidig went to Deshler Wednesday morning to attend the funeral. Daily Chief, Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, Ohio Tuesday, December 3, 1946 BIRTHS A 5 pound, 12 ounce daughter was born Tuesday morning at the Bucyrus City hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Messenger, of southwest of Upper Sandusky. An eight pound-three ounce daughter was born November 27 at Columbia hospital, Washington, D.C., to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wm. Lewis. She has been named Lynda Dianne. Mrs. Lewis before her marriage was Miss Hazel McCreary, formerly of this city. Daily Chief, Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, Ohio Friday, November 29, 1939 ARMSTRONG-BEIDELSCHIES Popular Couple United in Marriage Thanksgiving Day Miss Dorothy Beidelschies and Robert Armstrong, a popular couple of this city, were united in marriage Thanksgiving morning at 10 o'clock at the St. Peter's Catholic rectory, on North Eighth street, Rev. Father John R. Forror, performing the single ring service. Miss Mildred Fox, of Columbus, cousin to the bride, and Harold Seebach, of Prospect, a close friend of the bridegroom, were the attendants. The bride was attractive in a brown suit with harmonizing accessories. Miss Fox wore a wine colored dress. A wedding breakfast was served at 11 o'clock at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Beidelschies, on Second street, for members of the immediate families. Mrs. Armstrong was graduated from the Upper Sandusky High school in 1933, and is employed as clerk at the Bentz 5 and 10 ¢ store. Mr. Armstrong, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Armstrong, was also graduated from the local High school and is employed in his father's clothing store. The happy couple are at home in a newly-furnished residence at 566 South Hazel street. McCullough, both of Carey, was solemnized Thanksgiving Day at 10 o'clock a.m. at the home of Rev. Paul R. Clouser, who officiated. Ilo Wonder, of Carey witnessed the ceremony. They will reside in Carey. Daily Chief, Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, Ohio Friday, November 29, 1939 FRANK-SUMMIT Thanksgiving Day Wedding Marked With Simplicity A wedding marked by simplicity was solemnized Thanksgiving morning at 8:15 o'clock at the home of Rev. J. I. Selm, on North Eighth street, when Miss Anna V. Summit, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Summit, of Mifflin township, was united in marriage to Carl E. Frank, son of Mrs. T. W. Frank, of Salem township. The single ring service was read. There were no attendants. The bride wore a beautiful gown of wine transparent velvet, with brown accessories. The happy couple left immediately on a wedding trip to Washington, D. C.., and upon their return will reside on the bridegroom's farm. Mrs. Frank is well known, being a practical nurse, and Mr. Frank is an industrious young farmer. Wyandot Union-Republican, Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, Ohio Friday, May 25, 1906 WEDDED AT NOON Clarence Huston DeLong and Miss Martha Margraf United in Marriage A pretty home wedding occurred at the home of Charles Margraf, three miles southeast of Wharton, at noon Wednesday, the contracting parties being his daughter, Miss Martha, and Clarence Huston DeLong, of near Cridersville. The ceremony was performed by Rev. W. E. Kaeding and was witnessed by only the bride's father and sister, Amanda, Mrs. Kaeding, of this city, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob DeLong, the groom's parents, of near Cridersville, and Harley Von Blon, of Lima. A wedding dinner followed the ceremony. Both the bride and groom are popular young people and have the best wished of many friends. They will reside on a farm, near Cridersville. These Obits, Etc.
