Adair County, Oklahoma - CORNTASSEL CEMETERY http://files.usgwarchives.net/ok/adair/cemetery/corntassel.txt The Corntassel Cemetery is located in Adair County, OK. It was founded in 1891. This is a small rural cemetery located just outside of Westville, Oklahoma. The cemetery is located on Ross Swimmer Road, which turns off Highway 62. It is approximately half a mile down the road. The road will diverge, splitting into two different roads; stay on the low road, which leads to the cemetery. The cemetery is enclosed by a metal gate. There is a sign with large white letters that reads "Corntassel Cemetery 1891". Many of the stones in this cemetery have limited information on them; for instance, some of them do not have birth or death dates. Some stones have the deceased's name written in black paint (i.e., the stones are not engraved). There are also a number of blank (or illegible) stones. In one corner of the cemetery, there are about a dozen blank gravestones heaped together in a stack.
