Welcome Nix Rev. Welcome Thorton Nix, 84, of Van Buren, Arkansas passed away on Friday, January 25, 2002. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a Southern Baptist minister and a member of the Van Buren First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Marie Nix. Rev. Nix is survived by his wife Mildred Nix of the home; three daughters, Evelyn Scott of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Linda Joanne Polly of Killeen, Texas and Bonnie Lee Haag of Van Buren; one son William Henry Nix of Van Buren; two sisters, Jessie Brown of Fresno, California, Willie Mae Moore of Cullman, Alabama; 25 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 29 at Van Buren First Baptist Church. Interment followed at Ewing Chapel Cemetery in Stilwell, Oklahoma under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren, Arkansas. Pallbearers were Daniel Adams, David Wright, Emmitt Hampton, Andy Scott, and Scotty Scott. Honorary Pallbearers were Dr. Wendall Ross, Richard Pickup and all ministers.
