Allen CLOVIS, N.M. - Vernon A. Allen, 84, died Friday, June 11, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Willie Tollison and Wendel Powers officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Mr. Allen was born in Byron, Okla., and moved to Wellington when he was young. From 1937 until 1977, he worked as a conductor for the Santa Fe Railway. He was a member of the Go-Go Sams, United Transportation Union and 16th and Pile Church of Christ. He married Opal Morris in 1936. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tyler Allen of Amarillo; three daughters, Judy Powers and Jan Hamilton, both of Clovis, and Linda Smith of Orland, Calif.; two brothers, Jay Allen of Belen, N.M., and Ted Allen of California; eight grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren.
