All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Rush Springs Cemetery--Rush Springs OK Lawton Consititution 3 May 2006 Opal Gladys Burnett CHICKASHA -- Funeral for Opal Gladys Burnett, 94, Chickasha, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel, Rush Springs, with the Rev. Elmer Whitehead officiating. Mrs. Burnett died Monday, May 1, 2006, in Chickasha. Burial will be in Rush Springs Cemetery under direction of the funeral home. She was born Thursday, April 4, 1912, in Lambert, to Elbert Henderson and Cora Oringderff Henderson. She attended school at Duke. She married Loy William Burnett July 8, 1933, in Duke. They moved to Rush Springs in 1938 and owned the Rush Springs Hardware Store from 1955 to 1970. He died March 15, 1992. In 2000 she moved to Chickasha, where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a member of Rush Springs Southern Baptist Church. She was very involved in her church and held Sunday school parties at her house. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law: George Durwood Burnett, Chickasha; Loy William and Pamela Burnett III, and Jerald Wayne and Kathy Burnett, all of Lawton; three daughters and a son-in-law: Rita Jean Christian, and Bonita Pearl and James Freeman, all of Chickasha; and Darlene Newlin, Louisville, Ky.; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Carroll Henderson, Bixby; two sisters: Doris Wallace, Altus; and Zelma Hunt, Sapulpa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three grandchildren: Leslie Nicole Burnett, Loy William Burnett IV and Vickie Dianne Jackson; a great- granddaughter, Jessica Meagan Christian; and two sisters. Burial was held in the Rush Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Callaway- Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. Opal was preceded in death by her husband; three grandchildren, Leslie Nicole Burnett, Loy William Burnett IV and Vickie Dianne Jackson; one great-granddaughter, Jessica Meagan Christian; her parents; and two sisters.
