All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery--Norman OK Havenbrook Funeral Home Obituary Avis Lorraine Creedon Avis Lorraine Creedon, 84, of Norman, died Monday, June 20th, 2005, in Norman after an extended illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2005, at St. Thomas More University Parish with the Rev. Bill Pruett, celebrant. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma. Mrs. Creedon was born November 12th, 1920 at Helena, Oklahoma. She was the third child of Arthur and Ethel LeCrone, who settled the "Cherokee Outlet" in the Land Run of 1893. The LeCrone family moved to Norman in 1925. Avis attended Norman public schools and was graduated from Norman High School in 1938 and from the University of Oklahoma in 1942, with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She was the first person in her family to attend college. During the 1940's, Avis taught Second Grade in the public schools at Hennessey, Lexington, Duncan and Oklahoma City. While teaching at Duncan, she met her future husband, Robert Creedon of Chicago, at a U.S.O. dance at Fort Sill, in March, 1946. They were married one year later, on March 29, 1947, at the "Old" St. Joseph's Church in Norman. In 1950, Avis and Bob settled in Norman, where they raised six children. When their youngest child started school, Avis resumed her career, teaching Second Grade at Monroe Elementary School until her retirement in 1982. Mrs. Creedon was active in the Norman Regional Hospital Auxiliary and the New Hope Home Extension Club. Avis and Bob traveled extensively in retirement, visiting much of Europe, the United States, and Canada. Avis spent many happy hours entertaining her grandchildren. Mrs. Creedon was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Ida Couch and Joyce Abbott; infant brother, Bobby LeCrone; brother-in- law, Dr. Glenn Couch; and sisters-in-law, Mary LeCrone, Marie Creedon, and Catherine Creedon. Mrs. Creedon is survived by her husband, Robert T. Creedon, of the home; brother, Joseph LeCrone of Las Cruces, New Mexico; son, Tim Creedon and his wife, Cheri, of Norman; daughter, Cathy Ryan and her husband, John, of Greenwood Village, Colorado; son, Dennis Creedon, of Norman; daughter, Tricia Greenwood and her husband, James, of Norman; son, Kevin Creedon, and his wife, Jeanne, of Tulsa; daughter, Christy Kidd, of Castle Rock, Colorado; grandchildren, Andrea Ryan, Michael Ryan, Victoria Greenwood, Stephen Greenwood, Brittany Creedon, Courtney Creedon, Blair Creedon, Caleb Creedon, Abby Balazs, Attila Balazs, and Ellie Balazs; nieces, Karen Couch Wieder, and Katharine Wieder, and nephews, Dr.Joseph Couch and Barry Akin Abbott.
