All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Pleasant View Cemetery--Jet OK Husky, Ellen Mae (Vincent) Ellen Mae (Vincent) Husky was born at Jet, OK, December 26, 1910 in her parents' farm home. She is a graduate of Jet High School and Oklahoma A&M College. Ellen was one of the pioneer school teachers of Oklahoma and continued to teach for thirty-nine years. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, a selfless volunteer for the needy and an honored retired Oklahoma school teacher. She was always ready to serve others, which included the Mabel Bassett Correctional Facility, the Salvation Army, the Jesus House, Mobile Meals, Mother-to-Mother Program and the Association for the Mentally Retarded. She was recognized in 1990 as a '5 Who Care' award winner for her volunteer work. Ellen was long time member, deacon and elder of Crown Heights Christian Church. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Children's Church for over 12 years. Along with Ellen's gift to find the best in everyone, she also held the gift of art. Ellen was an accomplished artist and collector. She received an art prize at the Kirkpartrick Center for a Cathedral Window Quilt. As a volunteer and artist, she served as docent at the Cowboy Hall of fame where her efforts resulted in the creation of 'Hands On' Program. Ellen will be greatly missed by her family, friends and numerous students. She has asked in lieu of flowers or donations for those who cared and admired her life to spend two hours of their time reading to children. She is survived by two sons: Andrew Husky of Clayton Lake, Oklahoma and Dr. Dan Husky of Davenport, Washington; one daughter, Dr. Kay Nida and her husband, Dr. Jerry Nida of Edmond; six grandchildren: Matthew Nida, Miriam Taylor, Krysten Nida, David Husky, Garrett Husky and Karen Husky; one great grandchild; Gabriel Taylor; two brothers, Adrian Vincent of Morrison, Oklahoma and Herman Vincent of Jet; and one sister, Hallie Vincent Liming of Hillsdale, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, S.T. Husky. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday May 22 at the First Christian Church in Jet. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Jet under the direction of the Goodwin Funeral Home of Cherokee.
