Hunt MASON CITY - Hazel C. Hunt, 93, of 832 Ninth St. N.E., died Thursday (Jan. 8, 2004) at the Heritage Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kathy Graves, director of spiritual care of Hospice of North Iowa, and the Rev. Jo Frahm-Watkins of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Hazel C. Hunt Memorial Fund. Hazel was born Aug. 28, 1910, in Helena, Okla., the daughter of Clayton and Elta Luncinda (Luscombe) Coultrup. She attended school in Helena. Hazel married Frank F. Hunt on Sept. 26, 1927, in Helena, Okla., where they farmed. In 1937, Hazel and her family moved to Mason City, where she worked at Woolworth's Dime Store, and then for 21 years at the former Buttrey's Store as a seamstress. Hazel's first love was her three children, nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was very proud of all their accomplishments and enjoyed attending their many activities. She enjoyed sewing for those she loved and made many dance recital costumes, formals and wedding attire. She was a big Twins and Cubbies fan, and enjoyed sitting around the television and watching or listening to games. She loved to crochet afghans for all her grandchildren, fishing, working in the garden and canning vegetables. In later years, she enjoyed bus tours and spent countless hours working on family geneology. Left to cherish her memory are three children, Loren Dean Hunt and wife, Beth, of Mason City, Genevieve Lepird, of Mason City, and Judy Scott and husband, Dennis, of Mason City; nine grandchildren, Ricky Hunt, of Everett, Wash., Joe Hunt and wife, Julie, of Mason City, Jim Hunt and wife, Pam, of Clear Lake, Mark Hunt, of Mason City, Marsha Lepird, of Mason City, Tim Lepird and wife, Rae Jean, of Hastings, Neb., Kim Ward, of Cedar Rapids, Michelle Smith and husband, Matthew, of Manly, and Greg Scott and wife, Dawn, of Mason City; 20 great-grandchildren, Arley and Gus Hunt, of Everett, Wash., Nathan, Tyler and Haley Hunt, of Mason City, Ben, Alex, Lauren and Mallory Hunt, of Clear Lake, Garrett Hunt, of Mason City, Jeremiah, Erin, Joshua and Jordyn Lepird, of Hasting, Neb., Melissa Ward, of Iowa City, McKenzie Ward, of Cedar Rapids, Amanda and Cynthia Smith, of Manly, and Zachary and Allison Scott, of Mason City; sisters, Ethel Lynch, of Clinton, Tenn., Dorothy Stroh, of Whittier, Calif., and Ruth Conaway and husband, Chuck, of Pleasant Hill, Ore.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; two infant children, Frankie and Hazel; brother, Earl LeRoy, and a sister, Alice.
