It is an honor to recognize the effort provided by Pleasant Care-Bakersfield. They give the finest care imaginable for the care of the elderly, with special thanks to Hope and Bobby. Ruth (or Ruthie as her beloved husband referred to her) was born in Oklahoma where her family were farming people. They traveled to Kansas when she was a very small child in a horse drawn covered wagon. Her father bought a farm in Kansas and she lived and worked within Iola until she met Harold (Ike) Kindig in her mid twenties. They were crazy about each other and married on December 21, 1936. Ike went off to the war in the forties and upon his discharge, they settled in Taft, California. Later moved to Bakersfield, California, where she lived from 1948 until the present. In May 1961, with a special thank you to her close friend Bess Hines, Ruth and her family, Harold, Arthur and Randy were all baptized in Lompoc, California at the Church of Christ. Ruth was a notoriously clean woman, especially with her two boys. They were not allowed to come into their home with any dirt, sand or grass stains on their clothing. She would have them undress in the kitchen and head for their bath. She was a God-fearing woman who worked with the most effort she could give. She would not earn a paycheck following her marriage, but instead in earnest worked for her family her whole life. She was a very proud woman, never backing down from her belief, a very good person. Her loving husband preceded her in death on December 13, 1988. Her two sons, whom she could hardly find any wrong with ever, Arthur Merritt Kindig and Randy Edward Kindig, along with her two grandchildren Jill Adams and Arthur Kindig, survive her. Her burial will be on January 24, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the Greenlawn Mortuary on River Blvd. alongside her loving husband. Where they will be together in heaven as they were in life for all of eternity. I would like to extend a special thank you to all of mothers special friends, especially Jesslyn (Hines) Delissques. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Alfalfa County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/alfalfa/alfalfa.html
