Mrs. O.J. Smith widely known Cherokee woman died at Masonic Hospital, Sunday night after a brief illness which had extended over a period of only a few days. She was removed from her home to the hospital late last Friday evening for surgical treatment. It was found the appendix had ruptured and poisoning set in from which death soon followed. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Cherokee Church of Christ and took an interested and active part in the work of the church. She was born in Ohio, January 17, 1869 and died at the age of 58 years, 7 months, and 7 days. Besides her husband she leaves a family of seven children, five sons and two daughters who mourn her death. Funeral services were held from the Friends Church Tuesday afternoon with Cecil E. Berry, pastor of the Church of Christ officiating. Interment was in the the M.W.A.
