All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Auburn Cemetery--Cherokee OK Surnames: Vandruff, Oringderff, Davis, Fox, Foust, Miller From the Cherokee Republican Cherokee, Oklahoma (Alfalfa County) Friday, July 2, 1971 George Vandruff Rites Set Saturday At First Christian Church Funeral services for George Leonard Vandruff will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday from the First Christian Church in Cherokee with Rev. Arthur K. Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Auburn Cemetery under the direction of Grapes Funeral Home. Vandruff died Wednesday morning in the Masonic Hospital following a short illness. He was born at Alva, Okla., October 11, 1906, and was reared in the Lambert community, graduating from high school there. Following his graduation, Vandruff entered professional basketball, playing with "Olson's Terrible Swedes". a traveling team made up from many of his home area team mates. He was united in marriage to Beulah Oringderff on June 25, 1938, establishing their home in the Carmen area until his time of service with the U. S. Navy SeaBees during World War II. Following his discharge in 1945 they moved to Helena where they operated a drug store until 1955 when they moved to Cherokee where he had been active in carpentry. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Cherokee. Survivors include his wife Beulah of the home and one son, Claude of Cherokee. Also surviving are four brothers, Clarence, Alva; Ben, Seymour, Ind.; Jess, Long Beach, Calif.; and Chester, Cherokee and four sisters, Mrs. Lillie Davis, Cherokee; Mrs. Lot (Dora) Fox, Alva; Mrs. Sam (Elizabeth) Foust, Oklahoma City; and Mrs. E.
