Clark From Atoka Paper 1887-1979 Funeral services for Mrs. Iva Earle Clark were held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 16, at the Atoka Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Johnson officiating. Burial was in Green Meadows Cemetery. Mrs. Clark, 91, was born December 21, 1887, at Killeen, Texas, to Jess Bugg and Martha Polk. Pallbearers for the services were Hershall Luman, Melvin Wright, Lloyd Fortenberry, Bob Lewis, Willie Bowman and Homer Blaker. Survivors include her husband, Joe Clark, Atoka; one daughter, Carmen Ford, Atoka; one sister, Ella Mae Sandman, Paramount, California; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Footnotes for genealogical purposes: By Lola Harris Withrow, granddaughter of Ivy Harris Clark. Iva (known as "Ivy") Clark, died 14 February 1979, Wednesday at 2:30 P.M., in Atoka, OK. She was the daughter of John Jefferson Bugg and Martha Ann Elizabeth Polk of Texas. Ivy's first marriage was to Oliver Altus Harris, 07 Jan. 1903, Oliver Harris, he died 23 Feb. 1930, in Atoka, OK. Oliver and Ivy Harris, had four children; Oliver Ferman, Sherman, Joel Franklin "Frank", and Carmen (Harris) Ford. Correction: The sister of Iva Clark, is Ella Mae Sandlin (not Sandman). Ivy was the 2nd cousin, three times removed of President James Knox Polk. She was very proud of that fact and mentioned it often. She was also, a direct descendant of Capt. John Polk of the Revolutionary War, of Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina and York Co., S.C.
