"Sam" Sims, 86 Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Murray Funeral Home Chapel in Durant for J.H. "Sam" Sims, 86, Durant, who died Friday Dec. 18, 1998, in Durant. The Rev. Ross Kirven will officiate. The son of Frank and Mary Eliz-abeth (Hopkins) Sims, he was born on Monday, July 29, 1912, in Atoka. Sims served in the U.S. Army in World War II, worked for Durant Feed & Seed for many years and later worked for Bryan County as well as being a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Sims married Lena Harris on Dec. 21, 1931, in Ardmore. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Lena on Jan. 26, 1986; brothers Frank, Tommy, Val and Kenneth, and sister, Esther Lankford. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Durant under the direction of Murray Funeral Home. The VFW Post No. 3916 will conduct military graveside rites.
