Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Tammy Mackey ************************************************************************ Atoka County Times, August 25, 1999 Obituary Dorothy Flora (Keeler) Snead Dorothy Flora (Keeler) Snead, 76, a longtime Atoka area resident, died Thursday, August 19, 1999 at her residence in Atoka. A housewife and homemaker, she was born at Clayton on May 29, 1923 and was the daughter of James Wesley and Cliddie Ola (Newsome) Keeler. She attended school at Bethany in Atoka County, and in Detroit, Texas. She was of the Baptist faith. She was married to Bennie "Bud" Snead in Atoka on March 29, 1943. He preceded her in death June 24, 1978. Also preceding her in death were her parents, James and Cliddie Keeler; a granddaughter, Felicia Keeler; four brothers, Johnny Keeler, Ed Keeler, Billie Gene Keeler, and an infant brother; four sisters, Myrtle Mosley, Nora Mae Mosley, O. B. Cornwell, and Marie Allen. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 21, at 10 a.m. at New Zion Methodist Church with Rev. James Crowson officiating. Burial was in New Zion Cemetery under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service in Atoka. Survivors include twelve children, Wayne Snead and wife, Linda, Hartshorne; Ken Snead, Dale Snead and wife, Tresa; Karen Hodo and husband, Sammy; Brenda Keeler and husband, Stephen, all of Atoka; Ronnie Snead and wife, Pam; and Gary Snead, all of Santa Rosa, Calif.; Shirley Ann Snead and Larry Snead, both of Oklahoma City; Linda Polk and husband, Blaine of Hugo; Rickey Snead and wife, Cheri', Richland, Texas; Betty Poarch and husband, Michael, Mt. Holly, N.C.; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; two sisters, Jimmie Lee Adams and husband, Hollis of Atoka; and Mildren Peeler, Hopland, Calif.; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and many very dear and loved friends. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Adams, Cecil Mackey, Sammy Hodo, Michael Poarch, Stephen Keeler, and Blaine Polk.
