When we arrived the house was ablaze with lights and filled with about fifty of the personal friends of the bride and groom. Many from a great distance, to witness the solemn and impressive rite, which was soleminized according to the ritual of the Catholic Church, by the Reverend Father Bagley, who had come from Kansas City for the purpose. Miss Rose McQuillan, the bride, was attired in cream silk, trimmed with lace, elbow sleeves, long white kid gloves, white flowers upon her throat and breast and nestling in the braids of her hair, all lent additional grace to the calm, sweet expression of her lovely face. Mr. James Henson, the groom, appeared in conventional black and white. He was apparently radiantly happy, and knew that he, in the marriage lottery, had drawn a prize. As they made their responses the clear emphatic tones seemed to be from and earnest resolution that it was, "till death do us part." Miss Rose was attended by the groom's sister, a lovely young girl. Miss Louie, just blooming into womanhood - who was also becomingly arrayed in white silk and lace. Mr. Henson was attended by Miss Rose's youngest brother, Mr. Thomas McQuillan, lately of Denver. After a little talk had been given by the priest, the ceremony concluded, nuptial blessings given, the couple were warmly congratulated by their friends, and then the wedding feast began. The table groaned under the sumptuous supper that had been prepared under the hands of the hostess. Mrs. McGinnis (bride's sister) assisted by Mrs. Bradley. Cold meats, turkey, oysters, chicken salad, celery, cakes of all kinds, port and sherry wines, fancy bridal favors at each plate, and the unique table flower decorations made it beautiful as well as a toothsome repast. Dancing to music furnished by Miss Pet Miller on the piano, Dr. Croft on the flute, and Thomas McQuillian on violin, that made a trio playing to perfect time and was enjoyed by those participating. Singing and music, and pleasant conversation made the time fly until about 1 o'clock A.M. We were once more called into the dining room where the bridal cake was cut up, put into boxes and distributed by the Bride's hands. Bavarian cream cake and wine wound up the evening that had been, without a jar, from beginning to end and which had reflected great credit upon the hostess and host, Mr. James McQuillian and Mrs. McGinnis. About 1:30 A.M. Mrs. Henson having changed her bridal dress for a lovely traveling suit in a new shad of bluish gray, cape and hat to match, made ready to leave for their own home on the Palo Duro, going in their own buggy. A sudden wind storm delayed them somewhat, but at an early hour they wended their way to their Texas home, carrying with them the best wishes of their many friends. Among the guests, were the groom's mother, two sisters and brother-in-law, Mr. Goodnight, who had come over one hundred miles, from Panhandle City to welcome the new daughter and sister to their family circle. mrs. Davis, Mr. & Mrs. Threlkeld, of Frisco; Mr.& Mrs. O'Neill, Miss Mary Tyler. Guests from Hanford County were, Mr. John Grimmer, wife and dughter, Mr. William Brown, wife and sister, Mr. Houses and family, Mrs. Miller, Miss Pet Miller, Mr. Carter and family, Charlie Grimmer, Mr. Toutledge, Mr. A. R. Henderson and family, Judge Bradly and family, Dr. C. W. Croft of Hansford. These with the bride's own family comprised the guests of the prettiest home wedding that was ever celebrated in Beaver County.
