Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Balko Baptist Church with Evelyn Stone and Joe Day officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service of Beaver. Mrs. Cowan was born in Liberal, Kan., where she graduated from high school. She received her certification from a two-year college to became a registered nurse. Mrs. Cowan worked as a nurse prior to becoming a homemaker. She was a member of the Gray Community Church, the Boyd Home Demonstration Club, past leader of the Balko 4-H and a Balko FFA Mom from 1986 until 1994. She married F. DeWayne Cowan in 1967 at Perryton. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Byron Cowan of Cleveland, Texas and Daron Cowan of Ulysses, Kan.; and a grandson. The family suggests memorials be to Perryton Hospice, Beaver County Sheltered Workshop or the Amarillo Cancer Society. Amarillo Daily News, March 9, 2000
