Akridge BEAVER, Okla. - J.R. Akridge, 73, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Beaver First Baptist Church with Jay Akridge and Don Whitehead officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service. Mr. Akridge was born June 13, 1928, in Mergogel, Texas. He had been an Amarillo resident for the past 4 years. Survivors include a daughter, Debbi Whitehead of Norman; a son, Jay Akridge of Amarillo; a brother, Eddy Akridge of Las Vegas, Nev.; four sisters, Mildred Narcissus Cooper of Mount Pleasant, Texas, Ruby Faye Jacob of Las Vegas, Alta Grace Davis of Longview, Texas and Jimmie Lee Cates of Des Moines, N.M.; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
