The Orteg Family history that I have isn't as comprehensive as I thought. 
It is more like a few tidbits about the family, particularly the father 
Edward D. Orteg.  
 
Orteg Family History:

According to his baptism papers he was born Edourd Franklin Orteil (this is 
how the priest wrote his name at the time of his baptism). - Source: baptismal 
papers from the Diocese of Alexandria, LA.
 
Edward was in an orphanage with his brother Billy, when they were about 8 and 10. 
It was a Catholic orphanage in New Orleans, LA. He ran away from there as a child 
and made his way to Texas.  It was always told that his family was French Canadian.
 
He met and married Orasha Smith in Lufkin, Texas.  They moved to Sulphur, OK in 
1891 and lived there for 15 years then moved to Beckham County, OK in 1906. 
 
One rather interesting tid bit about one of the Ortegs is that Wade H. Orteg, 
son of Edward and Orasha robbed a bank in Texas with Buster H. Orr and crossed 
state lines into Texas.  He was shot by the sheriff on July 10, 1934. He borrowed 
Ruby Raye Davis Orteg's (his sister in law) car for the robbery.  It had bullet 
holes in it also.  They never found the money. I would be interested in getting 
newspaper articles about this, if any exist, but haven't yet had the time or 
opportunity to search for them.
