W-2 Had the Mayfield trial got beat and appealed Bead 25 Drugs 75 Tab 20 Wells paid me $40.00 on the mare. T-3 Made appeal bond came home by Reed at Hotell 1.25 yard fees 70 coffee oil etc at Reed 1.25 Frank Mathews $10.00 attorneys fees Orion got lye 50 pepper 10 then came on home. F-4 Gathered corn dug trees & fixed to haul a load to Erick. S-5 Took corn to Erick & the colts to Parkers also some trees lard potatoes etc to Erick Got tab 15 deposited 35 in state bank. S-6 Stayed at home all day Orion went off & the girls to Hills & they went to night meeting. M-7 Went to Wells & got the Gray mare & he came home with me & looked at the plows & Moore was out to Dick Rays & took his mules etc. T-8 Loaded up to moove Ed Wells helped me got off with 3 loads & it rained on us & we had to stop at Putoffs & it rained most all night & was cold. W-9 Still cold & wet got Put to help us came on to town & unloaded & paid him $4.00 & Gave Ed credit for $3.50 we unloaded & put thing up the best we could got flour 1.00 soap 10 Leo came up. T-10 Sent Edd Wells home by Tubbs with mules & brick & lime 155 went to town twice looked at some furniture etc. F-11 Me & Orion helped about the Taxes most all day. S-12 Helped about the taxes all day me & Orion got chillie 10 tab 10 Orion got coal 2.45 lamp flue 15 Burnt out at 2 A.M. S-13 Set around home went to S. S. at Presbyterian church & to meeting at Cambelite church the children went to the Baptist Church. M-14 Went & got stove at Depot 3.20 got sofa 6.50 headstead 5.00 coal 3.85 lantern 1.15 bolts 5 oil 20 stove pipe etc 2.80 hay 40 Got Leo trunk & settled up with him he paid me $50.00 & I deposited $55.00 & checked out $11.50 & Orion checked $3.85 Leo went off & I wrote some letters it turned cold P.M. T-15 Got up late don choirs got rope 40 & tab 30 & hinges 1.00 wrote some here A.M. don nothing much got tub & boiler. W-16 Still misting got tub & boiler & the folks washed we don choirs Orion rolled up wire & got up posts & we fixed the lot P.M. got some lumber 2.25 tob for week 25 pinchers 50 Orion 50 the women came at night Mrs Ward etc. [I remember that Orion always referred to pliers as "pinchers."] T-17 Orion hauled a load of caffer corn 2.00 we set around & don nothing it rained some & misted. F-18 Went to town Walt had news from Mangum that I would have to make a new bond paid Pect $10.00 don choirs around Orion went to work on the Hood house got hammer & square 2.50 I was not well. S-19 Was sick but went to town & gave bond to appear at Mangum in District court with Stratton & Carroll as bondsmen then came home got oil 20 & check cashed 2.00 cashed was real sick stayed at home. S-20 Was still sick wrote some Set around home all day did not go any where the children went to S. S. & preaching etc it was a nice day. M-21 Still sick Orion got coal $6.35 & then him & Pleiades went to the old place at Tubbs after chickens & cotton etc I don nothing Venus started to school. T-22 Still sick set around Leo came & the children brought the chickens & cotton up & sold the cotton. W-23 Orion & Leo sold the chickens & then went to the old place to see about the cotton I walked around some & the women traded some chairs etc. T-24 Got up late wrote some & put out trees & vines etc set around the rest of the day it turned cold P.M. went to town a time or two. F-25 It was very cold set around the house all day the boys came home P.M. it was very cold Flour 1.00 & oil 20 and delivery 20 Total 1.40. S-26 Set around home all day most went to town a few times got cash 5.00 spent on Pleiades dress etc $1.20 came home set around the children went to a party at night. S-27 Went to S. S. at Presbyterian church A.M. & to preaching at Christian church A.M. & night set around P.M. M-28 Got up early don choirs & wrote in this book fair & nice but cold Orion was sick & set around Leo made arangements to buy the Jones house & lotts at $275.00 I went to town P.M. & was sick the rest of the day & night. T-29 Got up early don choirs went to town to have the deed of the Jones place fixed up & the notes & morgage made got a matress 3.50 came home & then went out to Uncle John Grahams with Files & then home & stayed there the rest of the day & night it had blowed up cold from the East Orion had measles Acknowledgements 50. W-30 Orion had measles Got up late it was misting & cold wrote some in this book set around the rest of the day me & Leo went to the train & met Zenas he got home from the army & we all went home & stayed the rest of the day. T-31 I set around home most all day went to town a time or two & we set at home & talked etc Zenas was here Orion better. Diary for Feb 1907 Date F-1 Orion much better but Venus took the mumps & was sick paid for mattres checked out 3.94 (3.94) of State bank & Leo colected on rent 8.00 spent Drugs 45 coffee oisters etc 45 (90) we set around most of the day. S-2 It was cold set around A.M. Leo & Zenas went to town Venus still sick we just set around & don nothing. S-3 Josie & Venus sick we set around the boys & Pleiades went to church the rest set around all day. M-4 Set around Orion up some the boys down town some & set around some till late then Zenas & Leo packed & left for Texas. T-5 Orion went to Texola we were all sick the rest of us but not bad there were several of the neighbors in to see us & we fared all right. W-6 We set around home most all day Orion went out to see the stock & don choirs. T-7 Orion went to see about his mail rout I set around most all day went to town a while P.M. Teblet 5 envelops 20 Orion did not get back. F-8 Set around all day got some more Tax recipts & don choirs Orion got home P.M. S-9 Stayed around town all day put out a few receipts & wrote to Leo & sent off receipts etc. S-10 Stayed at home & went to Church & S. S. at the Presbyterian church day & night & read some P.M. in Bible etc. M-11 Got up early for us & wrote in this book Orion went to the old place & road old Light it was nice & fair he went about the cotton I set around & don choirs. T-12 Set around & wrote some & tended to Tax receipts etc don nothing much got soap at Hoods Fair. W-13 Set around all day don nothing of importance traded for the two lots North of me of Fred (Fair). T-14 It was fair Fair Got up early wrote some went to town & got some more receipts bought the lots North of us 150 75 down 75 90 days wrote some wrote to the boys don nothing. F-15 Got up late set around A.M. was not well went to town P.M. don nothing much the day was fine again. S-16 Went to town a time or two & don nothing much paid Moore 100 on milage Orion brought me the Wells $40.00 & tryed to bring the cow it was fair. S-17 Set around & dressed & went to the Christian church & then eat dinner & went out with Bertholomew & Mother & Bro Holmes to River view to preaching there P.M. came back & set around the rest of the day it was fair. M-18 Got up late don choirs & wrote some it was fair I sent off Prices Pricherds & Hickes recipts or rather to get them & also to carl an Miller $10.00 draft wrote to Leo & Zenas etc Orion was gon to see about his rural rout all day. T-19 Set around & don nothing was not very well Orion still gon it was fair & nice & all right. W-20 Set around all day don nothing Smith came here to board at night Orion came home P.M. still fair. T-21 I was sick all day did not leave the house Orion don nothing Smith here all day it was cold let Venus have 30 cts. F-22 Got up early still sick Orion went to town I set around & wrote some we fixed to go after the cotton & then put it off it was cold all day & I was afraid to go. S-23 Orion & Venus went after the cotton and I set around & don nothing much they got back with the cotton & the old buggy late after we had got very uneasy about them & had started to enquire over the phone but they were all right. S-24 We set around & went to preaching at the Presbyterian church & to a wedin P.M. & then to Files awhile P.M. & back to preaching at night he preached on the Eagles nest or habit etc. M-25 Wrote two letters one to Leo & one to Frank Mathews went to town A.M. came back & cleaned up the yard and around & got a plow & plowed up our lots P.M. & planted some few things. T-26 Me & Orion went in the wagon to Wells & eat dinner & loaded up a cow & the wagon turned over & the horse run away & cut old Kate & tore up the wagon Orion & Charlye fixed up the wagon & harness & we stayed all night. W-27 It was misting rain we was at Sug Wells & we stayed there till Noon Orion helped Sug haul a load of feed & wood & we eat dinner & I came on home in Sugs buggy in the cold & mist drove the little old mare got home before night was cold & tired but awfull proud. T-28 It was still cold & misty read some & then went to town got some papers & Coopers paid me $8.00 house rent I came home & read & wrote some it was cold & misty. Diary for March 1907 Date F-1 Got up late don choirs it was fair & Cold Orion still at Sug Well or on the road Trimed vines for Mr Therman Sug & Orion came in with two bale of cotton & two wagons & teams & stayed all night & helped to gin their cotton after supper. S-2 Went to town Sug & Orion sold cotton & loaded up seed & posts etc eat dinner & Orion went back with him to get the cow set around the rest of the day & don choirs & got some things. S-3 Set around all day went to preaching at the Presbyterian church twice at 11 A.M. & 7 P.M. Orion & Edd brought the cow in & the wagon & one hors of ours they got here about dusk. M-4 Got up early & went to town got mail etc came home & wrote & read some A.M. Edd & Orion don choirs around got some brand 1.15 & got Edd fixed up & Orion Took the Gray horse out to Mr Parker & brought all Light in we stayed around town P.M. Orion went to Sayer [Sayre] P.M. T-5 Got up early had head ache set around awhile & wrote some set around as usual got a letter from Orion. W-6 Went to town A.M. & P.M. got garden seed 25 nails 10 fixed boxes for cabage seed & Tomatoes etc. T-7 Got up early took Files out home got some sugar cain hay [?] got $1.25 house rent of Hinton came home at noon & wrote some don nothing P.M. F-8 Stayed all town most all day don nothing much. S-9 Around town most all day don very little of anything it had rained a shower. S-10 Set around home all day & read the girls went to preaching & bugy riding. M-11 Went to town got hay & saw about the Jones house etc wrote some in this book compleeted the Jones trad checked on bank for $100.00 $10.40 on Orion got hay 70 Flour 55 onion sets 40 paid Act at Wards 40 got shirt 1.50 coal oil 20 delivery fees 25 drug 50 was not well Saw Sug Wells about trade etc. T-12 Stayed around town most all day & don choirs etc fixed to go off. W-13 Got up early went to Mangum on the hack it was cold Mr Fogy went along & a woman went to Bativa [?] got sheroots 10 dinner 25 fare 2.00 tob 5 cts stayed at Hotell. T-14 Set around awhile then went to a court Examinal or started to Luther Mayfield the Judge set down on the case at once before the witness was through I went to Bill Easons & around town & mooved our boarding house near the P.O. Boomed [?] around. F-15 Started early & came to Erick it was cool but a nice day expences $3.00 for hotell 75 dinner 25 fare 2.00 found all right Cooper paid me the rest of the rent $6.65 got chops for cow 50 cts. S-16 Orion went & got the horse & mare & brought them in sold the horse to or Georges colt sold him for $135.00 one hundred and thirty five Dollars I got $132.50. S-17 Set around A.M. went to the Christian church A.M. & set around & read & went to the Baptist church at night Elder preached on the barren fig tree. M-18 Went to town & showed a man the Jones house & deposited the check of Scotts came home & wrote in this book etc leased the 2 back rooms of the Bull house to a man for a while at the rate of 6.00 per month & the Jones house at $9.00 per mo set around & don nothing much all day was sick my Bowells were in a bad fix. [Marginal Note: "18 Jones house rented to Holcomb at 9.00."] T-19 Got up early was sick could not do anything for awhile went to town & came back & was very sick all evening & lay around home till night. W-20 Got cotton seed at gin Went to town A.M. then set out some trees & vines P.M. & went back late came by the mill & got chops 50 & sack etc the children went to Hoods & got some things. T-21 Don choirs & went to town came back looked over papers & wrote some A.M. was not well P.M. set around went to town P.M. saw Rich etc went back at night with the girls. F-22 Orion came home from Sweetwater and we don nothing but stay around town. S-23 Went & helped Nunn haul a load of feed from Richardsons paid Richardson for the caffer $2.25 for chops 50 cts went on to town set around A.M. Sold Old Kate and the gray mare P.M. to George Scott for $260.00 cash sold doubletrees 75 harness 13.00 got sugar 50 oil 20 cts tob 10 sheroots 5. S-24 Set around went to church at the baptist church to S. S. at the Presbyterian & to preaching at night at the Christian church the girls etc went to the baptist church. M--25 Wrote to Leo & put George Scots check in the bank for 257.50 let Orion have 20 paid Nunn for hauling caffer 1.25 don nothing much it was windy & dusty. T-26 Set around & read A.M. went to town drawed 7.35 on special came home & read & dressed etc went back to town saw Pile he had paid the note we went to prayer meeting at night. W-27 got up early got some cotton seed at mill 20 wattered & fixed plants etc went to town don choirs it was the day of the hard wind or dust storm. T-28 This was the day of the dust storm don nothing went to town a time or two was very weak & sorry Orion came home. F-29 Set around & wrote some & went to town A.M. & P.M. Orion canvassed the town fixed Venuses shoes A.M. & don choirs. S-30 Got up early wrote some & set around went to town A.M. & P.M. Sold butter but did not colect money saw Sug & Puthuffs etc was not well. S-31 Got up early was sick all day & stayed at home all day the Harrold girl was here & some boy with Orion it was cold all day & we kept a fire in the heater all day the children went to the Baptists A.M. & to the Christian at night Ladell preached. Diary for April 1907 Date M-1 Got up early it was cold set around & read etc went to town a time or two then went to Sayer & stayed around most all day Willie Ellis & Files we then came home on evening train & came right on up home with Oak & Uncle McCord Mrs Prichard was here Orion got flour etc. T-2 Was not well went to town Orion got 5.00 hours rent of Holcomb paid Ryley & Thomas for flour 1.00 S Barger for syrup 65 cts Coffey as per bill of dry goods $15.30 was sick P.M. did not to out. W-3 paid coffee 15.30 Got up early don choirs etc the wind was high was not well set around home most all P.M. went to town & came back & set at Files for some time or till supper was over the children went to prayer meeting at the baptist church Paid Fred up $75.00. T-4 Went to town & tryed to sell out to Strattons by Files it rained came home & set awhile & wrote some tryed to sell out but did not yet got ginn 1.00. F-5 Went to town as usual & tryed to sell got a letter from Leo & a card from Orion etc don nothing as usual. S-6 Went to town A.M. & P.M. heard Bill Cross speak on the streets & at the school house to the C V s & joined the C Vs went to town late to the supper & a rain came up & we came home. S-7 Set around home all day was sick A.M. the children did not go to preaching or S. S. but took a walk P.M. went to preaching at the Presbyterian Church P.M. or at night the girls went to the Baptist & came back to church etc. M-8 Was down town a time or two don nothing was bothered too much Orion came home at 11 P.M. T-9 Went & got my specks 41.00 & came home & tryed to look over the bill to get --- up all night went back P.M. & found Oak Zenoms [?] & set around & came up etc etc. W-10 Oak was here went to town Orion colected 4.50 on house rent & I got some tomatoes I got some chops A.M. 1.00 drink 25 wrote some Orion worked on the flue at the Bull house. T-11 Got up early the wind was very high set around & fixed my specks A.M. & then was not very well P.M. went to town & came back & wrote some & to Oak Emans & there was a sand storm blowing all day. F-12 Set around town Orion tryed to go fishing P.M. we don nothing much at all but choirs etc. S-13 Still windy stayed around town Rich Tomie Noah & wife & Oak was here for dinner got Oaks seed for him etc Orion went fishing caught 6 little ones. S-14 Set around it was cold went to preaching at Presbyterian church Lidell preached went out to Parkers to see the colts P.M. & set there awhile came home & don choirs & went to Preaching at the comalite church at night Orion left for Floss at 6 P.M. M-15 Got up early wrote to Leo & Zenas went with Harper & went in the Mexain colony business paid the Martin Tax was sick at dinner went down got some medicine to dr old Lights feet Verdigris etc got Nunn to haul me up some coal & flour got flour at S Bargers got sugar at Rileys 50 cts came home & doctored Light foot or her feet & wrote some. T-16 cold all day It was cold blowed hard set around A.M. paid for coal 3.74 got bolts 50 paint 40 set around town it was cold all day tab 5 sand paper 2 paid Ward up 4.50 set around home. W-17 Got up early it was cold set around was not well wrote some went to town & came home & painted the buggy P.M. it was windy from the S but got along tolerably well painted the rim got some chops 65 cts at the mill. T-18 Got up early went to town let Walter Moore have the cow to drive to the pasture at $2.00 per month got cabage 15 tob 5. First pasture. Melted off mostly but misted & sprinkled rain & sleeted most all day & night went to the Reunion meeting of Old soldiers & the Daughters etc me & Josie the children went to the show at night & Brought Minnie Hill home with them. S-21 Set around A.M. Mr Lewis came & stayed all evening & night with us it was misting rain most all day the children went to preaching day & night. M-22 Got up early went to town with Mr Lewis got Holcombs check cashed & 1.00 on the King cure check came home & read & wrote some went back with the Paxton man & stayed around it was cold and misting rain came home Mr Lewis was here & stayed all night it was cold. T-23 Got up early it was cold and a big white frost Fixed up the buggy & more & went with Mr Lewis up to ward Texola took my specks then came back to Chambers on foot & then road most of the way home & canvassed some got home & help mak garden some set out some tomatoes & cabage. W-24 Went to town & fixed Ablos Tax up had to make up $9.70 to him besides what was in the bank $15.24 set around P.M. sick. T-25 Got up early it was cold wrote to Jones & sent him $75.00 paid off a $75.00 note on the Jones house came home don choirs etc. F-26 Sold specks all day sold $3.50 worth Sold to Coopers Motherinlaw 2.00 to Mrs McGawin 50 to Carpenter $1.00 & fixed Uncle Zeebs specks & don choirs. S-27 Went to Texola sold 1 pair for $1.50 to a farmer & came home after electionaring for Mr Lewis most all day he paid my expences there & back & while there. S-28 Set around went to S. S. at the Presbyterian church & to preaching at the cambelite church & then set around P.M. & went out to Files & set awhile etc etc 20 cts fees. M-29 It rained awfull hard all morning set around all day & don nothing much it was awfull cold & freezing. T-30 A big freeze ice & frost cut the vines of the potatoes got some more potatoes 35 Drugs 45 Tob 5 Mr Lewis came & stayed all night it was cold all day & night & frosted again chops 50. Diary for May 1907 Date W-1 Mr Lewis was here & helped him off cut potatoes & planted then & paid the boy 25 took the outfit to town & worked some don nothing much it was a nice day. T-2 Went to town got mail & came back & worked up to Homers & looked at his samples & came home & read some & wrote some & waited for him some. F-3 It was cold all day set around all day & don nothing much sold a pair of specks & put in a pair of Byfacal glasses for Mrs Cooper 75 Went to the flag presentation at church P.M. S-4 Set around most all day don very little of any kind of work went to the flag presentation at the Baptist church P.M. & came home. S-5 Set around home all day went to preaching at Presbyterian church A.M. Mr Lewis came & brought the mare & bugy home P.M. & we set around it was cold. M-6 Was not well all day Mr Lewis paid me $3.50 for the mare & bugy & I stayed around all day on account of Election & Scott was elected marshal. T-7 Was sick A.M. went to town & heard Hoffman talk paid for Venus shoes $2.50 oil 25 Orion got the bugy paid $1.00 for fixing it set around Mrs Elder was here awhile Orion went to see about the colts. [Marginal Note: "Mooved the colts to Chicks."] W-8 Was sick all day Orion used the bugy to deliver some pictures Leo came home after night the rest of the children were gon to prayer meeting Leo came home. T-9 Set around was sick went to town awhile Leo gave me check for $35.00 Orion paid $15.00 Long paid $5.00 on the back part of the Jones house which paid it up till the 1 of June I deposited $60.00 in the bank & me & Leo went up to Texola & eat dinner at Yardells & sold him one eye speck 50 cts don nothing else of importance. F-10 Was still sick went to town A.M. a while set around & read & talked at noon to Leo & wrote some got pills 50 drugs 25 seed & starch 15 etc don nothing all day. S-11 Set around all day was sick all day Stayed at home most of the time Leo & Orion down town & around home some of the time. S-12 Was sick all day don nothing all day but set around and lay around was very sick the boys & girls went to S. S. and preaching A.M. & at night. M-13 Set around awhile and talked A.M. then Leo & Orion went off Leo to Amarillo & Orion to Elk [Elk City, OK] I came home & was sick & set around. T-14 Got up very late it was cold & I was still sick set around the stove A.M. & don nothing went to town P.M. Kirby paid rent $2.00 which paid up till May 1st 1907. W-15 Wrote to Leo & sent him some money that I had colected of his don nothing much was sick had some throat trouble. T-16 Went to town & to Fish creek fishing with Mr Giles & Files etc had good luck caching fish P.M. & then went to Scotts & stayed all night me & Files. F-17 Fished all morning & took cold at dinner but came on home P.M. with Mr Giles & was very sick all night with sore throat. S-18 Had the sore throat very bad all day went to town & set around P.M. some & then came home & stayed. S-19 Set at home all day was sick & the children were both sick we all stayed at home all day. M-20 Went to town & heard the horse Dr make a talk & got some anti Phlergestian [?] & Drugs 95 came home doctored the children & my self for sore throat went to town & got some berries 15 apples 5 lemmons 10 came home We was all sick & had to be up with the girls Pleiades had ear ache. T-21 Still had the sore throat & the girls both had it doctored with Antiphogestian the morning was fair & fine Went to town P.M. & don nothing. [Marginal Note: "Lights colt about 12 A.M. 21 or 11 P.M. 20 dont know exact Light had a colt."] W-22 All sick again went to town got coffee envelops etc 65 cts Orion had come home it rained after dinner I fixed the door & howed in garden & wrote some in this book. T-23 Set around about as usual It rained P.M. & at night & blowed & they all got scared. F-24 Set around as usual don nothing was sick & the girls were both sick but Venus was better. S-25 Went to town about as usual was sick P.M. don choirs as usual don nothing Tob etc 15 cts came home early. S-26 Set around all day was sick & Pleiades was sick Venus & Orion went to church P.M. M-27 Went to town early to see about going to Virginia & talked it all over came home to dinner & wrote some in this book Orion paid me $10.00 & I gave him back 2.00 he went off to deliver. T-28 It was raining & rained all day I went to town awhile P.M. it was awfull mudy & misted or rained all the time Venus went to Turmonds we don choirs. W-29 Still foggy & wet & mudy don choirs A.M. & worked in yard. T-30 Set our Bermuda grass here and at the bull place & at the Jones place & set around. F-31 Still slushy & mudy & bad did not do much of anything the school was out it was cold. Diary for June 1907 Date S-1 Mr Lewis was here & he had stayed all night there was a big crowd & speaking in the evening & he stayed all night. S-2 Set around Mr Lewis was here & we went to preaching at the Presbyterian church & then set around & then we went to the Baptist church at night. M-3 Got up early wrote some in this book went to town don choirs Orion left to go out West it was fair. T-4 I got ready & went out to pedle specks sold to Galaway for $5.50 went of as far as Motherlys & Luunans [?] I went by Morgans Owens Galaways etc came back by Taylors and in by Browns place & on home don well it rained at night. [Marginal Note; " Long paid two month hous rent on till Aug 1st."] W-5 It was raining & mudy stayed at home and set around & don choirs bought a Mare & bugy of John Long for $50.00 & brought them home paid $40.00 cash & $10.00 house rent so Longs house rent is paid till July 31 or Aug 1st 1907 Zenas came home at night. T-6 Misting rain & mudy I went to town with Zenas & he came back & set around home & him & the girls went to the show at night I sent for Dayly paper 1.00 pears 20 Pleiades 25 salt 10. F-7 Got up early wrote some in this book etc set around A.M. went out with specks about 11 A.M. eat dinner at Hixes went on south 2 or 3 mile came back & went East 1 mile & then back home & don nothing. S-8 Set around & read awhile & went to the election then home & back & voted & set around don nothing tob 10 beef & Tomatoes 25 cts. S-9 Set around the folks went to church I dressed went to the Presbyterian church at 3 P.M. & to the Baptist at night it was a nice day. M-10 Set around & went to town don nothing all day paid pasture $2.00 to June 1st & set at home & talked & read etc Zenas took a notion to leave I wrote to Leo & Orion both but did not send them off. T-11 Talked to Zenas A.M. & then let him have $10.00 & he left said he was going to Oklahoma City it like to have killed us all we all took several big cryes over it & then did not get over it at all all day or night either I taked to Stone. W-12 Went to town got crop insurance of Sewell came home took the buggy to the shop & wrote some in this book got cards from Leo & Orion went out in the country by the grave yard & on East past Gipsons then came home don nothing. T-13 The Folks got ready & went to Putoffs & I went on East as far as Frank Frosts canvassed the country as I went eat dinner at Westons & then East & North some. F-14 Canvassed all the way back to town eat at Young Corneliason then came on home & read some & went to town it was hot the folks went to the church at night. S-15 Got up early don choirs wrote some in this book went to town but don nothing of importance. S-16 Set around most all day went to preaching at the Cambelite church at night Lowry preached it was fair & nice. M-17 Got up early wrote some Orion came home don choirs it was hot read etc Paid Parker $1.00 The Children went to Wells at night. T-18 It had rained a shower got up early don choirs etc set around rented out the Jones house to Wooton for 7.00 per mo he paid me 7.00 cash Drugs 95 tab 5 chops 60 Window netting 25. W-19 Don choirs around the house sawed off limbs etc then went to Texola canvassed this side of the town talked to Mr Woolsey George Wm Woolsey was the merchant then canvassed all the was back mostly not quite all though sold speck 1.50 dinner 25. T-20 Got up late eat & the rain came up & I wrote some in this book it rained most all day & rained hard too. F-21 Don choirs Orion went to see about pasture to Harrolds & I saw Dobb & Hicks & we took the colts & put them in Dobbs pasture me & Orion Did & don choirs & went to preaching. S-22 Set around most all day Putoffs came for Dinner & I went to town P.M. & found out my man was gon out of the Jones house I got Grapenuts 50 eggs 25 etc etc went to preaching. S-23 It was fair & warm set around home all day went to church at night Bro Lowry preached his last sermon & the rain came up & it rained hard. M-24 Got up early don choirs & wrote some went to town some Orion comenced his work at the galery with Huff Mr Lewis came & stayed all night with us. T-25 Saw about the horses damag to Alexander helped how in the garden got som bermudas etc Took Mr G. W. Lewis to Rich Dugans P.M. it was hot we drove the little bay. W-26 Walked around over Riches field and around A.M. went to Mrs Dunlaps P.M. & it rained after we got there a very hard rain stayed all night. T-27 Left Dunlaps went to Sweetwater store canvassed as I went don nothing canvassed all the way to Oak Emans the eat dinner & stayed there all day & night. F-28 Came home from Oaks via the bridge the road was sandy & bad got home eat don choirs went to the organization of the Son of Vetrans at school house then set around the rest of the day it was fair. S-29 Got up early wrote in this book Don nothing all day but seen about the house etc the folks worked at the ice cream outfit all day went to the show at night only saw the circus. S-30 Went to preaching at the christian church day & night Holms comenced to preach a series of sermons on the Church the seting up plan etc etc. Diary for July 1907 Date M-1 Wrote some before breakfast don choirs A.M. Went to town a time or two took old Light foot & George Scots colt out to Dobbs etc paid all my Acts that I knew of. T-2 Went to town paid up Hood & tryed to colect came home & read & went out to Chambers me & Josie don choirs. W-3 Got up early wrote some etc wet around it was hot read & wrote some. T-4 Set at home all day Orion went to Elk & the children went out on the creek North of Erick with a crowd of children. F-5 Set around & don nothing it was warm. S-6 Set around again paid for putting the Jones house back on foundation $5.00. S-7 Set around home all day the folks went to S. S. & preaching I went to the Cambelites at night it was hot but windy. M-8 Got up early fixed corn for moles wrote some it was dry Started out went & saw the colts & then around South & West & back home & washed & painted the buggy some & watered the garden some. T-9 It was raining painted the buggy A.M. & got the mail it rained most all Evening Mrs Elder was here & I stoped awhile at Elders went to meeting at night at the P C. W-10 It was raining got up late wrote some etc set around did not get off on the trip. T-11 Fixed up & went south eat dinner at Harrises & Coxes etc went on through the breaks & crossed the river & then stayed all night at Millers the Tax Miller his father the preacher etc. F-12 Set & talked to Miller for some time & he told me his troubles I then went East & crossed the river & Eat dinner at Mr [blank space] who was 77 year old & talked some of his Grand son then East through the gap & on East to McMillans & Thaxtons & then to Shug Wells & stayed all night. S-13 Sold Shug a pair of specks $5.00 came on to Tubbs & then on to Bradleys & sold him a pair & eat dinner then came on & sold Mrs Robinson a pair of specks at $6.00 then came on home & don choirs etc the girls went to Putoffs. S-14 Stayed at home by my self all day Went to Files & eat dinner & set a while the folks were gon to Putoffs they came home as the rain scare came up. M-15 Got up early & wrote some & read some & got word from Tom that he was coming helped to make a quilt box got lumber etc took lime back etc. T-16 Made a quilt box me & Venus & don choirs was not well. W-17 Don choirs A.M. went out to Gillums to look at a cow of Creayers the road was awfull sandy & dry. T-18 Set around home & don choirs looking for Tom went to the train twice me & Pleiades but no one came don no trading on a choir. F-19 Set around don very little of anything Looked for Tom som got a card he was coming Saturday & Sunday. S-20 Set around went to the train once Orion was at home don choirs. S-21 Set around again went to Preaching at the church Thomas preached on love. M-22 Took Orion to Frosts & came back by Richardsons & Hawkins Jones etc sold two pair of specks one to R for 50 bdls oats & 4 frying chickens or $2.50 one to Hawkin at 1.50 in butter at 20 cts & chickens at 25 came home was not well. T-23 Set around & went to town & got some things drugs 45 tab 15 etc. W-24 Got up early & fixed to go off wrote some in this book it was hot went to church & Orion came home. T-25 The meeting still going on & I don nothing of importance taked about trading but did not trade continued on page 13. [On page 13 are 7 entries first repeating or adding "T-25" with continuation to page 19 through 39, then to page 10 for 3 entries ending with "Nov 26 1907."] T-25 Went to meeting day & night. F-26 Went to meeting & helped some on the arbor and it rained some showers pretty fair rain. S-27 Went to meeting A.M. & to the corbets [?] P.M. & don choirs etc helped a little on the arbor. S-28 Set around & dressed & went to preaching at the arbor A.M. & P.M. & stayed at home at night. M-29 Got up early don choirs & wrote some in this book went to preaching & then set around & read etc went day & night. T-30 Set around & went to preaching & the preachers & wives all came home with us Elder Ladell & Thomas & they stayed all evening & for supper etc. W-31 Went to preaching day & night & went to town some they had a good meeting at night. F-2 Got up early it had rained a big rain put some paris green on the cucumber vines & wrote some paid S Barger & McDonald off for groceries $6.35 tablet 5 went to preaching at the church it sprinkled rain several times wrote a letter to Z.A.M. went to church as usual day & night. S-3 Don about as usual went to preaching it was raining some & wet etc went & cut weeds at the Jones place & rented the house rolled the wire etc. S-4 Went to church & home & then to the Baptizing Josie & Pleiades were imersed in the creek near the grave yard it was hot come home & went to Church at night.. M-5 We don choirs etc A.M. then took the mare out to Dobbs pasture & went & got wire & took wire down to the Jones place Tom & Bula came on a visit beef 15. T-6 Set around home all day helped Orion load a load of oats P.M. out at Dosses & then don choirs etc got beef 40. W-7 Don choirs set around & read got groceries Flour 1.35 Starch 25 maches 25 soda 25 drugs 25 beef etc bread 40 etc Saw about selling my place the Jones place Tom was here John Akens eat dinner here. T-8 Got up early don choirs etc beef & bread 25 was not well all day set around home all the time did not leave home at all till night drugs 45. F-9 Set around home all day again did not do anything Tom was sick. S-10 Still around home all day went to town P.M. & to see the people at my house & got some chickens etc. S-11 Set around all day & read etc Bro Files came awhile P.M. it was fair & hot very hot. M-12 Saw the comet 1st A.M. Set around A.M. went to town awhile came back & set around most of the evening Orion canvassed & the folks went to Thurmonds to the sewing & we road around in the buggy etc. T-13 Saw the bright starr & the comet & got up early wrote some here set around home all day took a ride P.M. me & Tom. W-14 Set around again all day & don nothing but wright a letter or two & took a ride P.M. T-15 Set around home & don choirs was sick on rosting corn Mrs Munn came P.M. F-16 Set around & went to town drove down in buggy & back Leo came & run around some & took Files reunions picture of the Files Tom was better most of the day. S-17 Set around all day Leo & Orion went around & took some pictures the girls drove around in buggy some washed & dressed me & Tom. S-18 Set around home all day the children went to Preaching day & night it was hot & dry. M-19 Got up early got no beef went to Files & then home home & & wrote some Miller was here A.M. & got samples etc Mrs Putuff was here for dinner & Ocie & Price comenced to board here Tom was some worse. T-20 Me & Orion fixed the yard fence A.M. and don choirs and set around P.M. Tom no better. W-21 It had rained at night comenced at 12 & rained on till 12 M sowed Turnips & cut weeds out of the yard & waited on Tom & don choirs. T-22 It had rained a shower Sent for the Dr Wells came & I then got medicine Orion got coal & box etc Oak Emons was here & brought some mellons etc Tom was very much worse P.M. I went to town two or three times. F-23 Got up early Tom was worse but had rested better than usual it was fair & nice set around all day. S-24 Set around & don choirs it was hot Tom still sick & me not much better Orion still here. S-25 Set around all day the folks went to meeting me & Tom stayed at home all day both puny But I had to wait on him. M-26 Set around the Dr came Orion went to Emons P.M. I went to town Got Mattress $3.50 Flour coffee pan spoons etc came home & set around it was hot. T-27 Got up early went to market don choirs wrote some in this book Tom still very weak Cornett took the cow to the pasture about 3 minutes P.M. they all went to meeting but me & Josie. W-28 Set around & fixed for Tom to go off & he & Bulah went home set around the rest of the day went to town P.M. Miller paid me the $5.00 all went to meeting but me & Josie. T-29 Got up early fixed for the grls to go to the pick nick & wrote some set around all day Leo & the girls went to the pick nick. F-30 Went to town & to the funeral of Mr Horn the traveling preacher read a few verses & they sung & went off Venus went to the grave I went & saw Leo & Pleiades off for Amarilla & came home & read & don choirs & went to town & to preaching at night at the Presbyterian church. S-31 Got up early don choirs & wrote in this book fixed to go out pedling etc went out to Robinsons no one at home came back & set around all evening. W-4 Went to town got a card from Leo Tom was better letter from Pleiades etc then went up toward Texola & eat dinner at D.S. Blairs & then went south & East home don nothing Orion came home. T-5 Went to Wats & to the coal yard & to town Saw Scott about Jones place came home & wrote some in this book mad a trade with George Scott to sell him the Jones place for $270.00 & take a horse in at 50 if he was all right. F-6 Set around & went to town let the cement men go in the Bull house at 2.50 per week don choirs colected $5.00 from Wats on Jones house. S-7 Set around don choirs got 2.50 of Fred Kirby on house rent Got groceries at Greens etc. S-8 Set around all day it was fair & hot the folks went to meeting & League etc it had rained a shower at night. M-9 Got up late it had rained a good rain & was cold went to town got back etc wrote some in this book don nothing all day. T-10 The pick nick was here in full blast went down A.M. & then came home & eat & took Josie down & we stayed all evening heard some speaches & set around came home & don choirs etc. W-11 Still picknicking all day went A.M. & P.M. & just set around & stood around etc came home & don choirs etc. T-12 Went to town A.M. & seen about the deed etc came home & wrote a letter to Leo & some in this book the wind was high mad a Deed to Georg Scott for the Jones place at $275.00 Jane & Pleiades came hauled a load of corn to Drs. S-14 Set around most all day don choirs Orion worked for Dr Doss hauling etc. S-15 Read & went to church at the Baptist church Elder preached on baptism or imersion came home set around Pleiades was sick the folks went out at night. M-16 Got up early don choirs & wrote some in this book. T-17 The day of election set around & voted etc Jane was still here. W-18 Don choirs Jennie went to Amarilla & I took her to the depot. T-19 Set around don nothing but haul a load of corn. F-20 Set around again don nothing, S-21 Set around again. S-22 Set around all day went to Files A.M. & to preaching at Cambelite church at night. M-23 Got up don choirs wrote some Orion fixed to go to picking cotton took Orion out on the creek to pick but they were not ready we came back. W-25 Help Orion to start to picking painting the Bull house got fair out etc Oak came & the folks went home with him the wind got up some P.M. T-26 Orion still painting A.M. the wind & dust got so bad he quit P.M. & don nothing. F-27 Orion painted most all day I hiched to the buggy & drove around some & don nothing mostly. S-28 Got up early Orion went to painting & I wrote some in this book & don choirs around & tryed to sell the horses it was windy. S-6 Set around put on clean clothes went to the Presbyterian church to meeting heard the new preacher Bro Robertson preach from the text He stayed two days more A.M. & The Eagle nest P.M. was not well all day. M-7 Took Orion out to the creek to pick cotton came back & seen something about a house rent contract to the preacher. F-25 I went to Sayer & looked around all day eat dinner with the Treasure got pants 4.75 & 1.55 got home late & went to preaching at the Cambelite church. S-26 Went out & got Light foot & came back & went & got the rest of the colts & took them home with the man he paid $181.00 cash & $219 note got back late. S-27 Got up early got a telagram from Leo that Tom was dead I dressed & went up there got there they had gon I got a buggy & followed in time to see him just as they lowered him in the grave then Tumey [?] & Armey [?] came & stayed all night. M-28 Looked around over town some me & Leo found a place I liked well Leo paid me $10.00 cash etc. T-29 Set around and looked around some me & Frank till noon I then came on home found all well & all right Pleiades working for Ward they went to prayer meeting at night Venus had the mumps she said. W-30 Went to town & don choirs around tryed to get a carpenter all day most got the promise of one for Friday the 1 got some meal 90 some chops 60 stayed at home then it faired up P.M. & then clowded up at night again I had a nervious break down at night but said nothing about it. T-31 Went to town & set awhile & Orion came & me & him went to Work on the shed & lot for the preacher & it rained some but we worked some again P.M. W-6 Up early paid the Hancock note off $226.00 and a few cents got up some sand wrote a letter or two. T-7 Fixed to put a brick flue & then changed & had a galvanized flue put up Orion went to Sayer about the Association & stayed all day & night. F-8 Set around & helped put the flue in don nothing much paid off some Accounts. S-9 Set around and don very little but pedled specks some & don choirs etc. S-10 It was cold & geting colder all day went to church to the Baptist church Bro Elder & Sister McCullocks came home with us for dinner & we had to set in the Kitchen put up the tomatoes in piles was sick most all day but got better at night. M-11 It was cold went to town got a bacholer stove got some brand let Orion have 1.50 & he went to Sayer to sell maps it was cold wrote some in this book wrote to Miller about his Taxes went to Files at night & set awhile. T-12 It was cold went to town & deposited Jakes check & found I was in arears some talked to Dobbs some about sanctifycation etc Set around went to prayer meeting at night at the presbyterian church. S-16 Stayed around town most all day got some books from Rev White of Sayer about 40 sold one & got some pictures from Leo got brand 1.30 Tob 10 the weather was ideal. S-17 Stayed around town all day read the news & the bible and the holyness book Bro Files came & stayed all evening and we talked on religious subjects mostly Josie went to browns went to church at night. M-18 Got up early don choirs wrote in this book it was misting & cold got some book from White of Sayer & sold one. sold 1 book. T-19 It was misting rain most all day went to town A.M. & P.M. got medicine 1.00 & Brand 1.30 felt bad at night but got all right. W-20 Got up early don choirs went to town don nothing Don nothing all day but write to Mrs W. S. Bradshaw at Mangum sold the Calf to Funderburg at $2.50 went to prayer meeting at night at Baptist church.
