MURPHY, WILLIAM A. (CAMPAIGN FOR COUNTY TREASURER):
(4 Apr 1907, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
In this issue appears the announcement of W. A. Murphy, of Sayre, as a
candidate for the office of County Treasurer.
Mr. Murphy is a native of Mississippi, but in early life he immigrated to
the state of Texas, and from there to Roger Mills county where he filed on
a claim.  A few years ago he sold his farm and moved to Sayre, where he
open(ed) up a grocery store, he also established the Murphy gin, which is
known all over the county.
W. A. has lived in Oklahoma about 7 years, in which time he has by his
fair dealings made thousands of friends.  He ask(s) the democrats of this
vicinity to look up his past life and if they think he is the proper man
for County Treasurer will appreciate your support in the primary and if
nominated in the general election.
