(27 Apr 1910, Wednesday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Old man Picklesimon died last Thursday. The old man - it's been so long since he was christened that nobody knows his front part - lived his three score and ten and then didn't stop. He was going to dances, getting drunk and having a devil of a good time after his four scores reached him. The octogenarian business didn't phase him in the least; uncle Pick kept on living. When he looked ninety in the face he laughed at him. At ninety-three he fiddled around and danced jigs on his own feet. We saw him trade a 'possum for a half pint of whisky at ninety-five. He originated only seven years after Tom Jefferson bought Oklahoma for Mr. Haskell. He made the century mark ashamed of itself, grabbed old father time by the whiskers and kicked along four years more. He didn't take Perima nor pills, he smoked tobacco; chewed the weed; cussed, drank whiskey and called everything by its real name. We don't know what he's doing nor where he's at now, and if Uncle Pick was here he'd tell us it was none of our d---- business. Uncle Pick was a character in Western Oklahoma, he had faults like other men, but was kind hearted and had many friends. (28 Apr 1910, Thursday, Elk City Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): DIED AT THE AGE OF 104 YEARS Mr. Picklesimon, who lived near Canute, died latter part of last week reputed to be at the age of 104 years. He was, no doubt, the oldest man in this part of the country, and he had resided in Oklahoma, or the Cheyenne country, since long before the country was settled by the pale faced race, who have become so numerous in these parts. Not many here now who survive him can hope to sojourn on this side of eternity as long as he, although all expect to live to a good ripe old age.
