All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ STANDINGWATER, MALE (5 May 1925, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): AGED INDIAN GOES TO HAPPY HUNTING GROUND (Hammon Adovacte - Roger Mills County) Monday night, April 13, Old Man Standing-In-Water, an aged Cheyenne Indian, passed over the Great Divide, and his tired soul started on the final lap of its journey to the "happy hunting grounds." Deceased was about 70 years old, and is survived by three sons, Sam, Francis and Russell, all of whom reside in this section. The funeral and interment occurred at Red Moon Tuesday, Rev. Cliewer, the Menonite missionary performing the last rites. (Buried Bethel Mennonite Cemetery, Custer County, Okla.)
