L. Glazner of this city, and World war veteran, at Tucson, Arizona, at the United States Veterans Hospital. Mr. Glazner died at about nine a.m. Mrs. Glazner and son Jack, and Mrs. Pete Hill, sister of Mr. Glazner, were with him at the time. Mrs. Hill went to Tucson ten days ago when her brother, Bradley Glazner, returned from that place. Mrs. Glazner and son and Bradley Glazner were with Mr. Glazner the greater part of the time. Mr. Glazner has been in the west for nearly two years. Practically all that time he was confined to veterans hospitals. Leaving Elk City he entered a veteran's hospital at Ft. Lyons, Colorado, where he remained for a year. After leaving there last December he went to Tucson. Hope for a complete recovery was not held after he entered the hospital. Although it was known he could not get well his death at this time was unexpected. Henry Tyler and W. W. Blackburn visited Mr. Glazner several months ago. Mr. Glazner is a member of the Masonic order, of the American Legion and of the First Baptist church. He was born September 15, 1891, in Georgia. When a lad he came to Oklahoma with his parents who settled near Foss, and after one year there moved to Elk City. He was in the Thirty-Sixth Division, 131st Machine Gun Battalion in the United States army. He received military training at Camp Bowie at Ft. Worth, Texas, and Camp Travis at San Antonio, Texas. He was in service overseas for 21 months and fought in two important battles. Shortly after his return from the army he was married to Miss Thelma Hapgood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Hapgood, of this city. Besides his widow, Mrs. Glazner, and son Jack, immediate survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glazner, his sister Mrs. Hill, and three brothers, Bradley Glazner of this city, Clyde Glazner and Grady Glazner, both of Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral arrangement are pending further word from Mrs. Glazner and Mrs. Hill. It is expected that the body will arrive here Sunday morning. (11 Oct 1930, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Services for Charlie Glazner, World War Veteran, of this city, who died Friday morning in a veterans' hospital at Tucson, Arizona, will be held here Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First Christian Church, it was announced today. Final rites will be read by Rev. Carl V. Covey, pastor of the church. The body will arrive Sunday afternoon, accompanied by Mrs. Glazner, widow of Mr. Glazner, Jack Glazner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glazner and Mrs. Pete Hill, sister of the veteran. Although a military funeral was not desired by members of the family, the American Legion will be represented at the station when the body arrives tomorrow and Legionnaires will also attend the funeral Monday, it was learned. Grubitz and Son, funeral directors, are in charge of arrangements. (12 Oct 1930, Sunday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Funeral For World War Veteran Today.
