All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ WORLD WAR II ITEM GREGORY, FLETCHER MASON (23 Dec 1943, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Fletcher Mason Gregory, 2-c petty officer of the U. S. Navy arrived from New York this week to visit his mother, Mrs. F. M. Gregory, 1501 North Fourth Street. He is recently come from the war zone in the southwest Pacific where he has been for the last eight months. He was there during the siege of Munda. Gregory entered the service October 2, 1942 and shipped in Fleet service in March, 1943. His training in boot camp was at the Great Lakes naval base in Chicago. He attended the naval school at the State college at Ames, Iowa. Before entering the service he was employed at the Gregory Ice Company. He returns Sunday to board his ship.
