Fred F. Herring, eldest son of Mrs. L. E. Herring, 21 years of age, just in the prime of his young manhood, was killed while serving in the army on the Phillipines Is. Fred was to have returned home shortly as his enlistment expired last June and his loved ones counting on welcoming him home soon, were terribly shocked at the news of his death. The body was shipped home for interment. Military funeral services were held at the Christian Church, Sunday, Jan. 7, 1923. There was not standing room for the large crowd of friends, neighbors and relatives, whose heart was touched by sympathy, for the mother, brothers and sister in the time of bereavement. ---------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
