Word was not received of his death until last week. The remains were shipped back to New Jersey, and after information was received by his mother, the body was shipped to St. Louis, Mo., to her brother living there, and the body was interred in a cemetery in that city. The word came that he was only sick a few days, and faced death bravely as a true soldier. Joe Privitt was the son of Mrs. N. L. Moring, who lived west of the Central School building in Elk City for several years, and recently went to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lillian Flowers, at Lela, Texas. Her daughter, Nellie Moring accompanied her there. She has another son, Elmer Privitt. Mrs. Moring is a sister of Dennis Carr, near Grimes. The family is deeply grieved over Joe's death. He was always ready to help his widowed mother and was employed in the Pullman Cafe at the time he entered the service last June. He was just past twenty-one, full of life and energy, looking the picture of health, and his many friends were indeed shocked to hear of his death. The sorrowing mother, sisters and brother, have the sympathy of the community in their hour of grief. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
