Funeral services were held at Plainview Cemetery on Tuesday (Greer County). Mr. Ritner leaves a wife and three children to mourn his passing. Mr. Ritner was known as a "jolly old soul." His friends were numbered by his acquaintances. He served four years in the civil war as a union soldier; afterwards he was with General Custer's troops. On the day of "Custer's last battle" he was assigned to a supply wagon; thereby he escaped the fate of his comrades. But he was a witness of the battle. Many were the tales he could tell of the war. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
