Last Friday, John Stahl, proprietor of the Palace Meat Market, received the surprise of his life, when his brother, F. F. Stahl, of Hutchinson, Kansas, dropped in for a visit with him. F. F. has lived in Hutchinson the past two years but knew nothing of his brother John's whereabouts. A few weeks ago he heard by accident that a John Stahl lived near Cheyenne, Oklahoma, and he immediately wrote a county official at Cheyenne asking about a certain John Stahl. The official replied to F. F.'s letter that one John Stahl lived at Elk City. F. F. then wrote John a very personal letter, asking him about his old home and his father's name. John replied at once, confident he had learned of a lost brother. When F. F. got John's letter, he was called away unexpectedly to a relative's funeral and it was two weeks before he drove into Elk City, last Friday. John had given up the idea that this F. F. was his brother. John and F. F. were born and reared in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and John, being fifteen years older than F. F., left home first, which is just forty-two years ago. F. F. left home thirty-five years ago, and since then his folks knew very little of him. John was back in Milwaukee four years ago, but they knew nothing of F. F. F. F. Stahl left for his home in Hutchinson last Wednesday, after a very enjoyable visit with John. "This is a queer little ol' world of ours. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
