Ackley was born January 5, 1915 at Hammon, and lost his life in a cotton gin accident October 15, 1956, when he was pulled into machinery by a belt at a gin in Butler. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife, Velma Lee, three daughters, Floretta Joe, Mary Kay, and Alta Ann, and one son, J.T., all of the home address; one sister, Mrs. Retta Creswell, Elk City, five brothers, George, Pampa, Texas; Reed and Buford, both of Hammon; Glen, Aubura, California, and Hammon, San Luis Obispo, California.
