(23 Sep 1921, Friday, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): Mr. R. D. Allen, better known by the people here as "Uncle Bob" Allen, passed away on Wednesday afternoon of last week, after several weeks of illness. Besides being given the best of medical attention to stay the disease and relieve his suffering, a special nurse had been employed to care for him during his last illness, but the grim reaper of death had made a final call and Uncle Bob passed away. Uncle Bob had been an old Confederate soldier and lost an arm in the great conflict. He was an old settler here and had a great many friends in Carter and throughout this part of the country. The burial took place at the Carter cemetery on Thursday following his death. A large crowd of relatives and friends were present at the cemetery. Rev. Reece, pastor of the Methodist church here, conducted funeral rites. Deceased is survived by his wife, and other relatives residing in different parts of the country. Aunt Sallie Allen is now visiting with relatives in Texas having returned with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Harden, of Burkburnett, who had been here to attend the funeral of Uncle Bob.
