All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Clovis, Curry County, New Mexico - November 18, 1956 Christopher Columbus Allsup, 76, died about 3:30 Friday morning, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jake (Ruth) Abernathy, 800 Oak St. with whom he had been living. He was a native of Llano County, Texas. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Charles V. Steed Memorial Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. W. A. Mitchell, First Baptist church pastor. He will be buried in Mission Garden of Memories with Steed Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. He is survived by 4 sons: Elmer of Clovis, Martin of Littlefield, Texas, William of Elko, Nevada and C. C. Allsup of the U. S. Navy; 3 daughters, Mrs. Ruth Abernathy and Mrs. Daisy Rasco of Clovis, and Mrs. Ollie Vanzandt of Willow, Oklahoma. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. They include: Aden Abernathy, Martin Allsup, Jr., E.L. Van Zandt, Joe Vanzandt, Winson Vanzandt and Jerry Rasco. He was preceded in death by his wife and 3 children. He was born in Pack Saddle, Llano Co., Texas, the son of Henry Pulliam and Syrilda Jane Hines Allsup. When he was 16 he removed with his family to Reck, Carter County, Oklahoma (then Indian Territory) and in 1899 he married Alpha Ann Rennels. A few years later he and his wife and daughter Ruth moved to Bettina in Greer County, Oklahoma, then to Carter in Beckham Co. where they made their home for a number of years, before moving to Clovis, to spend the rest of their lives. ========================================================================
