Armstrong was born Jan. 22, 1866, in Red River county, Tex., and died Jan. 18th at San Antonia, Texas, being 60 years, 11 months and 26 days of age at his death. Mr. Armstrong was reared in Texas where at the age of 28, at Throckmorton, he was united in marriage to Nellie J. Goff, and to this union were born ten children, six girls and four boys, all living at home with their mother except the eldest girl who is married and residing at House. He was a man of generous impulses and never forgot the hospitable ways of the pioneer. The stranger, though a beggar, never failed to find food and shelter if he sought it at his hand. He had borne adversity bravely and enjoyed prosperity quietly. He had filled the various relations of life as son, husband, father, brother, friend and filled them well. Who could do more? Besides a devoted wife he leaves six daughters and four sons, besides a number of other relatives and friends to mourn his demise. We can only remind these mourners that he is not dead, he is only asleep, resting after a life spent in what he believed to be his duty to his family and friends. Behind the storm clouds lurks the rainbow and when the storm is past it weeps on the flowers of the land and the pearls of the sea. Darkness preceeds the dawning and out of the darkness of night comes the sunshine and joy of the day. And so from the beauty of his life take an inspiration and go forth to live so that when the summons comes you may say as he did "all is well." Pioneer News, House, New Mex.
