Grace Opal Askew
ELK CITY, Okla. - Grace Opal Askew, formerly of Elk City, died Monday, 
Feb. 19, 2001, in Plainview, Texas.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Whinery-Savage Chapel with the 
Rev. Lloyd Hall officiating. Burial will be in Lawnview Cemetery at Cordell.

Mrs. Askew was born in Webb City, Ark., and grew up near Ozark, Ark. 
She moved with her family to Washita County in 1927.

She married Douglas W. Askew in 1928 at Cordell. They moved to Colony, 
then to the Burns Flat / Dill City area where they farmed. They moved to 
Elk City in 1979 and she had recently moved to Plainview.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Survivors include two daughters, Ruby Grace Morgan of Plainview and 
Norma Jean Olsen of Dallas; four sisters, Mattie Sullivan and Lillian Goff, 
both of Bethany, Hazel Carpenter of Elk City and Pauline Coley of Oklahoma 
City; a brother, Tom Young of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; and 
six great-grandchildren.
