Clyde A. Bates, well known at this place, died at his home at Elk 
City on Tuesday, October 12, 1909.  Mr. Bates was a son of Bascom 
Bates, formerly a County Commissioner of Roger Mills County.  He was 
a Philippine War Veteran and while in the service contracted a 
disease that made him practically an invalid.
