I. Boggess, had died very suddenly about noon that day at the home of his parents one and one half miles northwest of Carter. Fred had been sick for several days and while his relatives were naturally uneasy about him yet it was not thought that his condition was a serious as it really was. He was taken sick several days before and suffered quite a lot with his tonsils and throat, the cervical gland in his neck becoming affected and an abcess (sic) forming in same. At the time of his death his physician and surgeon were preparing to operate on him when the abcess broke on the inside his death resulting in a few minutes. Miss Anna Boggess, sister of the deceased was at Weatherford attending college at the time his death being so unexpected and the sad news was an awful shock to her as well as the rest of the family who were by his bedside when he passed away. The funeral service was held at the home by Rev. A. B. Carson, pastor of the Methodist Church here. There was an immense crowd both at the funeral and at the cemetery and the funeral procession was one of the longest ever seen here. The floral offerings were elaborate and beautiful. Remains were laid to rest in the Carter Cemetery on Monday morning. Fred leaves besides his father and mother, a sister Miss Anna, and little brother Roy. To the grief stricken loved ones our hearts go out in sympathy for it is indeed sad to see a dear son and brother for whom life promised so much, taken away just as he was entering young manhood.
