Bryce, 82, Passes After Four Decades In This Section Sayre, May 19, [1931] Funeral services for F. S. Bryce, 82, of Erick, were held at 4 o'clock Monday aternoon at the First Methodist church in Erick, with Rev. Hamilton, pastor, officiating. Mr. Bryce was a pioneer of western Oklahoma coming to Greer county and settling near Altus 42 years ago. He was born at Villa Ricks, Georgia, and lived there until he came to Oklahoma. He was a confederate veteran and attended the annual reunion of the Confederate soldiers as long as he was physically able. Mr. and Mrs. Bryce moved to Erick about 20 years ago and purchased a farm adjoining the town where they lived until her death six years ago. Since that time Mr. Bryce has spent most of his time visiting among his children. Mr. Bryce was ordained as a Methodist minister more than 60 years ago and continued in the work as long as he was able. Surviving Mr. Bryce are the following children; Dr. J.R. Bryce, Snyder; A.E. Bryce, E.R. Bryce, and Mrs. D.L. Patterson, of Oklahoma City; Mrs. C.K. Conwell, and W.P. Bryce, Altus; Mrs. F. M. Cocanougher and C.F. Bryce, of Littlefield, Texas, and Mrs. Dolf Velvin, of Erick, all of whom were present at the funeral. Interment was made at the Erick cemetery. [born 1849, died 17 May 1931].
