Age 77 hears. Funeral services will be held at Carter Sept. 17, 1929 at 4:00 p. m. Interment will be mad in Car- ter Cemetery. Gentry-Killough funeral directors in charge. Elk City News 26 Sep 1929 Mr. J. H. Buckner, pioneer of Carter, passed away suddenly Wednesday night. Mr. Buckner was born in Missouri in 1846. While a young man he married Miss Emma Yandell. He moved to Carter thirty years ago and has made this his home since. Two years after he moved to Carter his wife died; leaving him five children to rear. About a month ago, Mr. Buck- ner fell and injured several ribs, but he had almost recovered from the injury. Wednesday night when he sat a the supper table he was feeling fine, but before he finished the meal he spoke of having a pain in his temple, and in about two minutes, he was un- contious. A doctor was sum- moned at once, but he was past all earthly aid. He died at 11 o'clock Wednesday night. He leaves to mourn his death a daughter, Mrs. Davis and four sons, Earnest, Melford, Brough and Clyde. Funeral services will be held at the Carter cemetery this after- noon (Friday) at 4 o'clock.
