BUCKNER, EMMA BELL
(27 Jul 1928, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK):
Mrs. Melford Buckner of Carter died at an Elk City hospital on last
Saturday morning.
Mrs. Buckner had been quite ill for some time, suffering intensely, and
although she was given the best of care she continued to grow worse and
was carried to the hospital Friday morning, but even there she continued
to grow worse, until death relieved her sufferings on Saturday morning.
The remains were brought to Carter and the funeral services were held at
the Carter cemetery on Sunday afternoon, Rev. J. E. Osborn, of Quanah,
Texas, conducting the funeral services.
A large crowd of relatives and friends living here, and also Mrs. Davis,
mother of Mrs. Buckner and her brother and sister, Mr. Davis and Mrs.
Buckner, of Abaline (sic), Texas, were present at the funeral services.
We extend our sympathy to the bereaved husband and other relatives.
