Bird died last Saturday and was buried Sunday in the Elk cemtery. Mr. Bird was a progressive far- mer, well thought of as an honest man and had a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the home conducted by Rev. Henson. Elk City Democrat 31 May 1906 Mr. W. A. Byrd, a well known and respected citizen of Roger Mills county, Oklahoma, Died Saturday of cancer of the stom- ach, at his home six miles north- west of Elk City. Mr. Burd was Forty-seven years, seven months and eighteen days old. Was born in Johnson county, Arkan- sas, Octover 8, 1858. Was mar- ried to Miss Florence F. Turner, December 19, 1880 He was the father of thirteen children, (eleven of which with) -- there are lines through the text their mother, survive him. He had ben sick for six weeks. Rev. Henson had charge of the funeral services. The body was interred in the Elk City cemetsry, there to rest till the judgment. Roger Mills Democrat 31 May 1906 I left in typos. Note the message above.
