Funeral services for Mrs. Amy BROWN,90, who died Tuesday morning at the home of her son T. M. KENNEMER, in the Highway community near Carter, were held this afternoon at the Taylor church and burial was made in the Taylor cemetery. Mrs. BROWN was born in Woodville, Alabama and lived there until some time in the late 60's when she moved to Texas with her family. She was a member of the Church of Christ and her life was devoted to the principles of her church. In 1907 she came to Oklahoma where her family settled near Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband several years ago and has since made her home with her son. Mrs. BROWN was truly a representative of the pioneer type of woman who "came west" with her husband in the early days and who graciously added her bit to the cultural and interesting side of life in the communities in which she lived. Her husband served in the Confederate army under General Robert E. Lee in Virginia. "Aunt Amy" as she was affectionately called by all who knew her, was made an honorary member of the Mildred Lee chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy when it was organized in Sayre in 1923. This organization was officially represented at her funeral and the court house was closed during the funeral hour. Mrs. BROWN is survived by three sons, T. R. KENNEMER of Highway, Lon KENNEMER, of Dill City, and Ison(sp?) KENNEMER, of Scottsboro, Alabama, who was unable to attend the funeral. She was an aunt of County Assessor G. G. PERKIN and has many other nieces and nephews in the county. Note: Year of Birth 1842 Date of Death March 8, 1932 Burial at Taylor/Waggoner Cemetery Link: Taylor/Waggoner Cemetery URL:
