B. 28 Mar 1855 D. 22 Feb 1938 Carter Cemetery Beckham Co OK William H. Benjamin, retired Presbyterian minister, died Tuesday, February 22, at the home of his step- daughter, Mrs. Simon McClary, eight miles northeast of Carter. Funeral services were held Wed- nesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the residence, with Rev. L. B. Osborn, Presbyterian minister of Sayre, of- ficiating. Burial was in the Carter cemetery. Rev. Benjamin was born march 28, 1855 at Rockaway, New Jersey. He came to Beckham county in 1931 to make his home with his step- daughter. He was married 15 years ago to Mrs. Tom Rawles at Hot Springs, Arkansas. Besides his widow, he is survived by four step-daughters and one step- son. The are Mrs. Simon McClary, Carter; Mrs. Harry Hopkins, Sayre; Mrs. Pearl Robinson, Ola, Arkansas; Mrs. Maggie Harris, Ripley, Cali- fornia; and Frank Lowell, Albuquer- que, New Mixico. Elk City Journal 24 Feb 1938 Funeral services for William H. Benjamin, 82-year-old Carter res- ident, who succumbed Tuesday af- ter an eight-day illness, were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the home of his step-daughter, Mrs. Thru- man McClary southeast of Carter. Rev. L. V. Osborne, pastor of the Sayre First Presbyterian church officiated. Mr. Benjamin was born on march 28, 1855 in Rockway, N. J. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Jane Rowls on September 27, 1922. He had been a resident of Beckham county since 1931. Survivors include four step- daughters: Mrs.. Thurman Mc- Clary of Carter, Mrs. Pearl Rob- inson of Arkansas, Mrs. Harry Hopkins of Sayre, and Mrs. Mag- gie Harris of California, and one step-son Frank Lowe of Albu- querque, N. M.
