She was a good, kind neighbor, an exemplary Christian, and was loved by all, as was proven by the large concourse of sorrowing friends who followed her remains to the Poarch Cemetery where they were laid to rest after an appropriate talk by Rev. C. C. Upton. (10 Aug 1910, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Harret Almon (sic) was born in Benton County, Arkansas in 1847. Died at her home near Ural July 26, 1910. Sister Almon united with the Baptist Church at the age of 16. She was the mother of ten children, five boys and five girls, all survive her. She filled her mission in honor to her husband, her children and her God. To see her children live and honor god was the dream of her life. Life is a dream that blooms into a reality just across the river of death. In the grave of such a one is a star of hope to mourning loved ones. The mound that arches the grave of such, seems to seal the covenant made between earth and heaven. The great throngs of sympathic (sic) friends who followed the remains to their resting place show the esteem which she was held by her neighbors. Through the chambers of every heart there are memories that will not part, they will stand the storms of many years, and will not drownd (sic) by flowing tears, the place, where a loved one is laid from cares, is a solumn (sic) place watered with tears.
