Bently (sic), who was living with her daughter, Mrs. Dude Henson, south of Carter, at the time of her death, and Mrs. Asa Bailey of Carter, both died last Saturday and were buried in the Carter cemetery Sunday afternoon, Rev. Mathis conducting the funerel (sic) services. Mrs. Bently had been in bad health for a long time, being afflicted with that terrible disease, tuberculosis, which gradually caused her condition to grow worse and worse until the summons came from that grim reaper, death. Mrs. Bailey died of fever. She had been ill for sometime and is said to have been real sick from the very time that she was first taken ill. She leaves a husband and one child. (Unidentified clipping): They were also called to embalm the body of Mrs. Katie Bently, six miles south of Carter. She died Sept. 28th at the age of seventy-two. She leaves five sons and four daughters. (12 Oct 1917, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): We will state that the EXPRESS was in error last week in stating that Mrs. Bentley died of tuberculosis as she died as the result of a fall in which she broke one of her hips. Our attention was called to the error by Mr. Dude Henson, so we gladly make a correction of same. Card of Thanks. We wish to extend to our many friends and neighbors in this and adjoining communities our heartfelt thanks for their loving kindness and words of love and sympathy shown us during the illness and death of our dear mother, and especially to Uncle Bob Allen for the kindness and interest he takes in our families.
